As far as I know this is Blizzards first MMORPG so I understand it may take them a while to get everything running smoothly. Especially when they didn't realize how populare the game was going to be. Now that is not to say EQ2 shouldn't have any problems, but I would think with the exprience behind the belt that the game makers have they could avoid a lot of them.
I say the mechanics of the game is TIGHT. They know how to make it run on the servers just fine.....

....now as for the content sometimes I wonder if monkeys are makin the decisions in regards as to what to put "in" the game. Some patches change the UI just a tickle, some overhaul the integral parts of the game. The one that really blew me away was when they changed the "con" system. It's the tool used to guage how powerful your enemy is, gives info on lvl and how much above or below the median for that level it might be. Also told if the critter was agressive or passive. NO ONE complained about that, the system was simple and swift, easy enough for me to understand within 1 min of lookin at it. Then all the sudden a new "con" system popped up in a big patch, odd looking horns around the name and pulsing crap around it. Looked real neat but the amount of info it provided IMO was crap.

....quests that are bugged...you can bitch and moan till ya drop over dead and Sony just sits there and does nothing. I simple line of code will fix that kinda thing....but NOOOO. Must change a huge feature like the con system and overlook the quests. That kinda stuff drives me bonkers. Not cause it "matters" but just because it would be SO simple to fix the small stuff rather than re-design the whole damn game.

EQ2 was nice, but i was playing on US servers so hardly saw anyone regularly due to time zones. If not for that id probably still be there now.

WoW i joined with some old UK guildies from DaoC and Diablo.

ENjoying it just dont have the time to play alot a the moment...

You are right this is their first big MMO, but the problem I have with blizzard, is even in open beta for the previous month before game was released. There were tons of technical issues, and that was even before they had all the subscribers they had now.

Usually in most MMORPG, technical issues do not show up in beta because not as many as in live. Well in open beta the problems showed up, and they should not have released the game until it was stable.

I can deal with bugs, and class balance issues, but when it comes to server and network stability...well best example is shadowbane. That was a fun game, but after 2 months of dealing with network issues I gave up. What a shame too had a great concept.

Yeah I dont know what they are doing half the times...i think the problem is they are trying way too hard to compete with WoW and while competition is good, if I wanted to play WoW I would play WoW. I want to play EQ2 not WoW

On the adventure side I am really happy with most things as it is now, especailly with my wizard. They finally fixed us where we are now really DPS.

But on the tradeskill side, I am very very dissapointed with changes they made. Instead of taking a hammer and nailing a few holes, they took a bulldozer and tore down the entire system. There were definitely some issues with dependence, but they could have easily fixed it. But instead they ripped out entire system and now everyone is independent and only crafters that are even making money are provisioners for most part..and even then most of them hate doing it becuase it takes so long to make food and drink.

lol I just cannot decide which I want to play more ....

My Rogue (lvl 53) has a hard time finding groups in upper levels because there are 150000 Rogues on Darkspear. Rogues are just so damn fun to play and in PVP they are at the top of the chain (alongside Pally's who tank and heal)

My Mage (lvl 22) is alot of fun , not too good for solo but fantastic in groups PVE and PVP. With the great AOE's,crowd control and food and drink vending .

My Druid (lvl 15) is a great soloer , Is the jack of all trades but the master of none... She can Heal/Tank/DPS/Stealth. And would be wanted in many many groups as the primary healer. I'm just not sure I want to be a heal bot in groups.

Damn ... I just can't decide ... I want to play my Rogue to 60 , then switch off and play the others .... But sometimes it's nice to get a break from the rogue and play an alt.

I just wish my 6800GT would get back from the shop today :(

You can join our clan, |D| is you'd like and join in with the other 20 geeks that are currently playing. |D| has their own guild....Grimson doesn't play WoW though for |D|...he's EQ2. But if you want to join, the invitation is open to you. A couple of other SG peeps are in the guild as well...HawiianGhost and TexasGhost.

This is our current Horde Roster on Gorefiend:
The |D|issidents

Our Alliance Roster is not posted as of yet but they have a bunch of high levels there. The Alliance side of the house plays on Stormreaver server.

TexasGhost and I created the guild on Gorefiend and I am not sure how our Alliance guildies recruit but we on Gorefiend have no restrictions on toon levels or professions (we have just about every profession covered). If you are looking for a well controlled guild, I believe we have one of the best and most helpful guild on this server IMHO. Almost every recruit that I have interviewed has just about the same complaints, i.e. "my previous guild is boring, no one helps or logs on", or "my previous guild has too much drama and immaturity". So far the feedback I get from our members onces they've played for us awhile is that they are "Happy where they are at". But that doesn't mean we are perfect as a guild, but we (the officers of the guild) help resolve and take care of our members.

If anyone is still looking to find a good guild or transfer from a guild that they are not happy with just look me or TexasGhost up on Gorefiend (Horde). As of this date we have put recruiting on hold, but I am pretty sure that we can make an exception to our fellow SG'erz. For more info on how we run our guild feel free to contact me.

My Gorefiend toons:
- Chakandynahr - co-founder/officer- lvl 54 Shaman (Enhanced) - Master Dragonscale Leatherworker
- Sharinadhra - alt toon - lvl 21 Hunter (Marksman) - Former Tailor/Enchanter

TexasGhost's Gorefiend toons:
- Grande - Guild Master - lvl 54 Hunter (Marksman) - Master Engineer/Alchemist

This is the way I compare the environments of WoW and EQ2 so far

WoW has a more fantasy like environment, more colors, etc... but the graphics quality isn't that great, it's designed for jump in and go, it's easier to learn, it's less complex.

EverQuest II is like a more grown up fantasy game, more complex, the graphics make it look like it could be a real fantasy setting, much better graphics, but harder to learn.
