Thanks to Cablenut

I just want to say that I have played with a lot of patches in the past. And the Cablenut patch seems to be the best one I have tried. I notice no difference in ping times, but, I do notice that my speeds hold there max for longer periods of time. I also notice that my speeds off my proxy seem to be about 10-15% better than they are without the patch. The last one I put in was 3.65. I admit I have not tried 4.01 yet.

I am not sure. I would think it would work for anyone. It also seems to have an uninstaller so that if it does not work, you can take it back out again.

Yes it will ... all you need to know is wether your provider has a High speed or normal speed cable.
If your not sure just try the high speed fristand if it doesn't do to well just go for the normal speed .

And what would "high speed" and "normal speed" cable be defined as?

cable_normal.ccs = intended for Cable users that can achieve up to 250KB/sec bandwidth.

cable_fast.ccs = intended for Cable users that can achieve up to, or more than 500KB/sec bandwidth.

I have found that the patch works best off of a clean format. I always start off with 100kb/sec. After installing the patch (3.65), I get 500-600 kb/sec.

The pathetic part is that I find myself installing the patch before I put any other software on the computer.

Bandwidth is a priority...it doesn't matter what else you have on your machine.

Thanks Cablenut!

What's the diffrents between the dsl and cable tweaks, is it only that that cable are optimised for higher speeds?

At the moment I am using the "cable fast" tweak and it works fine (I max out at ~600kbyte), is there any reason why the "dsl fast" would be better?

Believe me there is a differrance.
My Provider avertise a High Speed Broadband cable connection and has a sevice aggreement which states the following.
AT&T ROAD RUNNER SERVICE SUBSCRIBER AGREEMENT
1.THE SERVICE
Under paragraph 1.2 section v)it states; Internet connection – High speed Internet access (up to 1.5 Mbps to the modem), and for 2-Way Road Runner Service, up to 300 Kbps from the modem);

But! However because of some engineering problems, we are unable to attain anywhere near that.
So here what I can do.... If I browses the internet during the wee hours, I can set my tweaking to the High speed setting and breeze along at a pretty good speed.
But during normal heavy traffice time I have to use the normal cable settings.
I did however approach them about increasing the bandwidth while they are figuring out how to fix their problem.. They refuse, stating that that ideal will only make the problem worst. LOL
So since I was questioned about this I will say this.
I use Cablenuts 4.0 with differance settings saved in the CCS folder and just pull out which one works best at the time, save it, REBOOT <--- always do that. and then I surfing at the best speed I can at that time of the day.
It's kinda like shifting gears in a car in heavy traffic. As I alway say. Every sistuation is differance. Try them all and see which works best for YOU! wether it be Cablenuts oe Speedguide or DSLreports. YOU have to decide.
