dvd like cdr backup ?

Post by RAAF453_Shep »

ello , ok my mission is to try to use a dvdr like a cdr... just to archive data to. it seems such a waste to "only" have movies on a dvd.
is there software ( I currently only have Nero 5.5 ) that will do that ?
? but to save files to a directory , then burn the whole folder to a dvd .
all I see is movies...

Somewhere in Nero (or its wizard) there should be an option for data DVDs.

I can't really say where in that version, but just look for any DVD option that doesn't specifically say video.

I dont know if 5.5 has it but I open up Nero Start Smart, make sure its on DVD hover over the data icon and it should show some options like: Make Data DVD, Make Bootable DVD etc., click on Make Data DVD. If you dont have that option, open up Nero burning rom, make sure DVD is chosen, and click DVD iso, then just drag the folders/files you want in there and click burn :)

also, you can purchase nero 6.3 for around $8 shipped.

look around in the forums at http://www.fatwallet.com, they have deals on it all the time.

Many thanks for the input.
I downloaded "copytoDVD" trial version, it worked straight up, ( and better - straight forward ) and was easy to interpret.

then I looked in my Nero , and found the Nero Recode , ( and for my bad eyes saw the "Data" button in that , so now Im in doggy heaven, finally get to clean all these files off the drives , to dvd's for my archives.

cheers !
