Actress Sandra Dee Dead at Age 62

LOS ANGELES - Actress Sandra Dee (news), the blond beauty who attracted a large teen audience with films such as "Gidget" and "Tammy and the Doctor" and had a headlined marriage to pop singer Bobby Darin, died Sunday morning, a nursing supervisor said. She was 62.

Dee died 5:57 a.m. at the Los Robles Hospital & Medical Center in Thousand Oaks, said Cynthia Mead, nursing supervisor.

Mead said Dee's family requested that no other details be released. CNN reported that Dee had been undergoing treatment at the hospital for the last two weeks for complications with kidney disease and pneumonia.

Born Alexandra Zuck in Bayonne, N.J., Dee became a model while in grade school.

She was one of my favs..and so gorgeous. I used to watch her in Gidget as a kid..and loved her movies. My favorite of her movies was I'd Rather Be Rich, with another of my fav actors Maurice Chevalier. It is so sad when all the talented actors we grew up with are gone.

my dad is 78,he is the sinatra,martin,wwII,etc,etc generation,which had alot of class and integrity, IMO

and that was a GREAT generation.

she and her generation will be greatly missed.
