Looks like DC_Final isn't final after all ... DC is just branching in every which direction. Not sure what to think about that.

From http://www.dcxtended.com/ re: .8.1

This is a CLIENT ONLY! patch. It deals with textures and you only the client side needs to be updated. Servers do NOT need this patch

I figured out why they have a v0.8 and v0.81 both released at the same time. The .81 is a fix for a texture problem. I guess just after they released it, they realized the textures were messed up.

Anyway, it's pretty darn good. Tons of new toys and some new maps. The chaff on some of the jets and choppers is a nice touch and of course the guided scud. :)

Although it doesn't truly exist anymore, it's my sentimental favorite...

This thing flys smoooooth.

If you have the time it's worth checking out.

Both files are about 470MB total.

You'll need DC.7 (563MB), DCX.8 (460MB), DCX8.1 (22MB)

To play DC final you also need DC.7

Is this going to be on the SG Server?

My guess is no. DCX was tried on the server with an earlier version and it didn't go over too well.

The DCX team isn't associated with DC team in anyway. It's actually a mod of a mod that was done by a completely different group of people.

I understand that. This is why it would be branching in every direction :)

DCX has been around for a very long time at least a year probably more. It's not a new mod that just poped up. They just redid it to make it compatible with DC_Final along with adding a few new weapons and such.

their .8 release has nothing whatsoever to do with DC_Final....

a mod of a mod of a mod would be way to laggy

It is based on DC .7 and pretty much always has been. The mini mod of a mod is just as big now though. I personally enjoy it. Just wish there were more servers out there supporting it.

DC final is not in the equation at all to play DCX. I misread you sorry.

Your looking at over a gig of downloads to play DCX.

DCX was first introduce about a little over 1 ago by a gamer called Zeuser. Being that he was never part of either Team DICE (BF42) or Trauma Studios (DC Mod, Frank DeLise), Zeuser created the mod called DC_Extended (DCX) to help improve some problems in DC that part of the DC community was screaming for but actions were never taken upon or were slowly responded to. So in essence, DCX is a mini-mod for DC and cannot run without DC installed. Zeuser then started "Extending" some of the features of DC to ppls requests. i.e. The SeaHawk w/co-pilot guided torpedoes, the Twin Cannon BlackHawk (bet you thought Trauma Studios released that first huh? Nope). DCX even released a version which included the M.O.A.B (Mother-Of-All-Bombs) which was attached to the underside of the AC-130 Hercules Gunship that was fired/released from position #6 (the position that just opened and closed the cargo doors). I think this [M.O.A.B.] is now removed and I'm not sure if the recent releases re-implemented it.

porkchop,

Did you know that when one of the "updates" of DC came out it was noticed that the release was creating way too much "lag" for the majority of the people, if not all - well Zeuser fixed that problem with his following DCX release of that update. Most people knew that DCX was almost guaranteed to get updated whenever DC was updated right after BF42 was patched.

Now that DC_Final is stated to be final, I guess DCX will just be updating itself (because nobody ever said that it was the "perfect mod"). Overall, though DCX just added alot more of what some people wanted and then some. I think one the very first public releases of DCX was DCXv0.38d.5. I still have that one and all of the ones upto DCX5l.1, that's when I stopped playing the mod due to transitions to the U.S. and the release of BFV. Hell, I got every release of DC since v.20a...lol.

DCX was cool and every release of it rocked!! And that's all I have to say about that...

C'mon BF2!!!!

THEY NEED BETTER MAPS!

:)

good ideas, most maps that have armor usually have too many hinds/apaches, but its all balanced. just too many crappy maps.

The hummer doesnt even look like its wheels hit the ground and the SNow covered stuff is kinda over done.

It is worth keeping an eye on.

This may be due to the "lift kit" that they added to one of the earlier releases of DCX, I'm not sure I've never played the version where they lifted the chassis of the hummers. It was some cosmetic thing that they did for fun, I only read about the feature awhile back...
