I figure it didn't install right so I re-installed the patch(es) and still got the same thing... Maybe I'll have to re-install the entire game and patches again....? Wanted to play on SG server tonight but I guess not...

Shouldn't have to reinstall, just slap in the patch. As of when I posted that the server was patched last night...we nearly filled it up within a hour, it was quite busy within minutes.

That wrong version error is what you should get it you didn't install the update. Just checked the server literally a minute ago, logged in, played the Bridge level for a second, just to check and see if it bombed out after I left last night or something. It's running fine.

1.06.101, no?

And I just completely uninstalled and reinstalled BF42 along with all the mods and patches yesterday thanks to a PB problem.

[edit]Completely uninstalled and reinstalled everything, again. This time with success, though. Hopefully when I get on to play tonight I wont have a PB problem!

Huh...I dunno what your issue was. You running from behind any software firewall that may have prevented PB from updating?

When I upgraded the server....I also manually updated PB on the server via PBWeb...so right away our server was running the latest, fixed, PB files. They should auto-download to clients upon first connection...but sometimes clients various firewalls can get in the way. The server is not blocked from letting clients download...nothing in the way on the server end.

I had assumed it might have been, but I enabled exceptions for the ports and applications on the software firewall, as well as disabling it. On the router I enabled my PC as a DMZ as well as opening the UDP port. It wasn't that.

I had messed with PB a good bit, tried PBWeb too, several times. Never got it fixed. Had to completely reinstall everything to fix PB, and when I got that all working the SG server wasn't working for me, which is the reason I bought the game. Other servers worked fine, though. Anyways, since I just reinstalled, again, everything seems to be working for every server. :thumb:

Huh, OK. Yank yer 'puter from the DMZ will ya? NAT routers will not block PB from updating, as it's a client based request, therefore trusted to be pulled back in.

That's exactly what's happening to me and I manually updated the PB files too. Huh, the only thing that I haven't done yet is the dreaded re-install option which looks like I may have to take that route sometime today. :(

Glad it wasn't just me, I was getting really frustrated with it. We'll see what happens tonight.

hhhmmm, let's see:

1) install bf42
2) update bf42 w/patches
3) install DC.7
4) install DC_Final
5) update PB.

that's a lot of pain for a game...

It's not that bad, as long as you already have all of the patches and mods.

Do it like this, though.
1) Install BF42
2) Install all mods
3) Update BF42 w/patches
4) Update PB

I don't know if that actually makes a difference, but since I reinstalled the game completely once yesterday, the other way, and had problems.

I know it ain't that bad, it's just I've done it what seems like a million times since the dawn of BF42 DC v.20a (which I still have all the updates since then also) due to some instance or another.

There was a PB issue with the latest patch. From what I understand alot of people were getting kicked and having other issues after updating to 1.61b. However, that issue has been addressed (there's another thread about it here somewhere ... oh, here https://www.speedguide.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=161361 :D )
