I don't have any firewall software installed, and i'm not going through any proxy server (to the best of my knowledge), but i can't get any traffic from the outside. no pings, people can't access my ftp, nothing!
here are my settings from my network setup:
i'm using win2k, first of all. in my network and dialup connections, i've got three local area connections. the device on the first one is my linksys LNE100TX ethernet card, the second one is a WAN Network Driver (which i believe was installed with the dsl modem), and last one is the Messenger ADSL 100U Adapter. The WAN and the dsl modem are both enabled right now (as i'm on the net), and the ethernet is not enabled.
on the properties for the WAN Driver, I've got the following components used by this connection:
Client for Microsoft Networks (which is set to Windows Locator)
File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks
Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
NWLink NetBIOS
NWLink IPX/SPX/NetBIOS Compatible Transport Protocol (internal network number is all 0's, and frame type is set to Auto Detect)
NetBEUI Protocol
Under the TCP/IP settings, I am using the following IP: 192.168.0.1 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. no default gateway is entered, and it's selected to "use the following DNS server addresses", but there isn't anything entered. under advanced, IP addresses says DHCP Enabled, with no
subnet mask, and no default gateway entered there either. interface metric says 1. nothing in the DNS tab, and nothing in the WINS tab either. Options has IP security and TCP/IP filtering. IP security is set to "Do not use IPSEC". TCP/IP filtering is set to Enable TCP/IP filtering.
everything is pretty much the same on the messenger lan setup.
thanks for your help!

Blocking traffic (don't want to!)

You are running a router aren't you? Thats whats blocking your pings. A 192.***.**.*** is a INTERNAL IP only. So somewhere in your connection you have a router. Maybe your DSL modem is also a router. I have heard of ones that do that. If you know that you are using a regular router go into the config and allow "WAN Requests".

Hm. As far as hardware goes, i have a dsl modem that hooks into my USB port, and a linksys network card, but that's all. i figure the WAN driver just installed itself by default for my dsl modem... other than the network card (which is not currently hooked up to anything), i don't have any kind of physical router...
Hi Jodo, don't I know you from somewhere?
I'm moving this thread to the Cable/xDSL forum since it will prolly get better responses there for your problem....
