Doom 3; What do you think

What do you think?

I got it, and it has honeslty got to be the scariest game ever, in my opinion.

Pretty decent when it came to graphics and atmosphere....but as for playability, turned into a snoozer pretty quick for me.

In all honesty, original Half Life, by far, is still my favorite FPS when it came to single player enjoyment. There's a striking resemblance others who played Half Life through will probably notice.

Poll going on over at Firingsquad...by today most likely over 400 replies to it, and it seems I'd say 80% of the people out there feel the same way. Good graphics and ambiance, but got boring real quick.

I greatly enjoyed it, it was fun, scarry, and I had a very good gaming experience with it. Well worth the money. I look forward to all the many mods to come and games that follow using its engine. At Quakecon it was awesome watching the Doom3 Tournements, the guys were GOOD at it. Fatality won the 25,000 first place prize in Doom3, it was awesome watching him play it.

My question is... is the game really worth 49$ which is the cheapest I've found? I mean I see cats comment about being boring.. I don't wanna play the sucker for a few days beat it and then stock it on the shelf cause I got bored of playing it.. and from the sounds of it being able to multi play with many people isn't set up just yet?

Hmm dont you mean Half Life stole their story from Doom series? Because if you look at the history of Doom 1 and 2..Doom 3 was the same story just retold a lot better because back then they didnt have the technology to go great detail..not only that Doom was made for simple

Then again this story has been used in so many other games and movies I wouldnt really call it original by any means

It's an awesome game I'm still enjoying. The mods for it will be great too I'm sure. I'm still waiting for the Citizen-132 mod to come out for Farcry, which is supposed to be scarey too. D3 has been a nice break from the WWII based games I've been playing mostly.

my suggestion, wait a yr upgrade your comp, then buy it :D
you will not only get the game cheaper, it will also play a LOT better too :p

haven't bought it yet....will upgrade hardware then buy it, though it will be a little while...

I just got it yesterday..

It runs awesome on my laptop.. better than I thought at least..

I'm playing it on veteran difficulty right out of the box and its hard as hell.. I was worried it was still going to be too easy and I was just going to run and gun through the game but thats simply not the case.. I'm getting my ass kicked so far on the first board.. lol but thats just how I like it.. :p I can't stand games that take 2 days to a week to beat.. I want something that will keep me challenged for at least a month or 2. So far so good. :thumb:

Good game, some parts creeped me out to no end. Enough so that I'd save my spot, go turn on some lights and play with my dogs some.

Ya know the organic bits on the walls? They kinda move and look slimey? Well I had just encountered that stuff in a room with a big 'ole glowing pentagram on the floor and was looking up at the "tounge" on the ceiling and my german shepard LICKED my arm. I came unglued, smacked my knee on the comp table and spilled my drink. Dog ran off....lol.

That's the part you're getting that dudes PDA, there are candles on the ground?

Oh man was that part 'creepy'.

Another creepy part was walking into the bathroom on that one level then all of the sudon everything turns red and demons pop up.

my only complain is the type of mamoth system it requires to run this flawless.

I have a 1.6 gig 38rSDRAM -gforce 3 vid card.......

it runs fair but it does gets choppy when lots of monsters on the same screen

Above GF3 is hardly a mamoth system.
