NeonStealth2001 make these changes in CableNut and also do the following:
DefaultReceiveWindow = 384000
DefaultSendWindow = 32768
DisableAddressSharing = 1
InitialLargeBufferCount = 200
InitialMediumBufferCount = 480
InitialSmallBufferCount = 640
LargeBufferSize = 819200
MaxFastTransmit = 64000
MediumBufferSize = 150400
PriorityBoost = 0
SmallBufferSize = 12800
TransmitWorker = 32
FastSendDatagramThreshold = 1024
EnableFastRouteLookup = 1
EnablePMTUDiscovery = 1
IgnorePushBitsOnReceive = 0
GlobalMaxTcpWindowSize = 64240
MaxFreeTcbs = 8000
MaxHashTableSize = 16384
MaxNormLookupMemory = 5000000
SackOpts = 1
SynAttackProtect = 1
Tcp1323Opts = 0

MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server = 20
MaxConnectionsPerServer = 10
DefaultTTL = 64
DisableUserTOSSetting = 0
TcpMaxDataRetransmissions = 6
DefaultTOSValue = 240
VERY IMPORTANT TO DO THE FOLLOWING
1. Under your LAN connection - properties - general tab, uninstall all the protocols there that you do not need.
2. Open IE and select tools - internet options - connections - LAN settings, make sure NOTHING there is checked.
3. ALWAYS connect your modem via ethernet (NIC) and make sure you have the latest drivers for your NIC from the manufacturer and set your duplex mode to "auto". If you are using a router make sure you have the latest firmware. DO NOT CONNECT YOUR MODEM VIA USB!!
4. Clear your temporary internet files.
5. Power cycle your modem, unplug it for atleast 15 seconds.
6. Download, update and scan with SpyBot S&D EXACTLY as I explain HERE & Ad-aware EXACTLY as I explain HERE to remove any spyware then install and update SpywareBlaster to stay spyware FREE. YOU MUST USE BOTH AD AWARE & SPYBOT TO ENSURE YOU ARE SPYWARE FREE SINCE ONE FINDS WHAT THE OTHER MISSES.
7. Make sure you do the faster web page tweak in my Help & Tips link.
8. If you have Zone Alarm as a firewall uninstall it and search your pc for the left over files.
9. Install Sygate Firewall they have a FREE and Pro version.
10. Scan for viruses with your antivirus app, if you do not have one get one IMMEDIATELY, I recommend using AVG 6.0 it is an excellent FREE AV app. Make sure you set it up EXACTLY as I explain HERE.
11. Make sure you have ALL of the latest Windows Updates.
After doing ALL of the above see if the problem goes away, if not then please post a tracert.

Do you alwyas timeout on your first hop? If so call your ISP, you likely have a line problem.

Another Comcast User
Ok fellas, I also have the Comcast connection just like this guy and Comcast seems to be screwing me just like it was him.
Windows XP, 1 gig processor and 128 megs of ram and an ungodly number of empty space on hard drives.
Comcast 3000 down/ 256 up
We are going through a firewall of some kind but since I'm not the network administrator at our house I don't know what it is.
We've plugged and unplugged our router and modem many times these last few days so anything that can be updated has to have been updated.
As you can see, my download is a joke when it's supposed to be near 3000, my upload seems ok. My brother who is on the same line as me, just has a faster computer, sometimes get's above 2500 on the tests he runs and I haven't really ever gotten over 1500.
I've done the faster webpage tweak in the sticky at the top of the page, and I have done the old method of figuring out my RWIN....pinging and averaging them and then doing the math...and that's what I got.
Help please.

Yea when we use network on comcast the speed slows down...Comcast hates internet sharers so if you call them they wont help you.

Interesting in reading this post all the way through, as I am a newbie, that I have never had latency problems nor connection issues with Comcast and my NetwrokEverywhere nr041 router either.
I had started with Cable modem service in Atlanta with Road Runner, which was soon bought out by AT&T. That ran for a year or so, and then it was bought out by Comcast.
Well, I was happy with my 1.5 or 1.8 Mbps downstream, when all of a sudden one day I saw speeds exceeding 400 KBps *sustained*.
I was like "wtf?"
I ran all sorts of speed tests - sure enough, I was getting anywhere from 2900-3100 Mbps downstream - a full 3 months before Comcast "advertised" the new faster speeds.
Alas, I moved to a new apartment complex - the only one in a 5 mile radius that could not get Comcast b/c another (now defunct) company had bought the rights to providing HS Internet access to the complex.
That was in November. Today, I just had Comcast come out and set me up - and I am again getting sustained >3Mbps downstreams.
Best yet, even though I am supposed to get newsgroup access via a limited GigaNews account, my old account was through ATTBI - which means that I was grandfathered over when Comcast took over to use the old ATTBI servers. I tried connecting, and sure enough, they are still there - not as much content, but it's there.
Call me lucky - or ingenious. First thing I did when I bought the router was to check for a firmware upgrade.
Ah well. I used the TCP analyzer and set it to outrageously high settings just for kicks - and still not having any problems. I even get sustained bandwidth of ~300 KBps downstream from the newsgroup servers when running 8 threads simultaneously.
Of course, it might also have to do with the fact that, since Comcast bought the rights back to provide the service, maybe all the equipment around my area was upgraded - meaning better wiring, etc.
But that was not the case at the last apartment, so there must be more.
Now it has been over 2 years with my router as well - and it is still kicking.
