need to interview computer programmer

Post by lmf22 »

I'm in high school and have to do a project in my Career Decisions class. I have to find a computer programmer to interview in person at his or her work place. Can anyone help me? Where can I start looking?

try a bank. not a small branch, but a corporate office if at all possible. i used to have a freind who did programming (FORTRAN or PASCAL if memory serves) for a major banking institution.

otherwise, i would look for a large corporation and try to locate their IT dept. i would venture to guess that if they dont have someone in-house, they could refer you.

oh, and what about a school (comp trade school, college or university)? there has got to be somebody who teaches programming of some sort.

What should I say when I go into a large corporation? Will they even let me in?

I'd say just tell them your story (that you have to do the interview for school, etc.), and that you really like the company (the one you're asking, of course :D ), and ask them nicely if you could talk to one of their programmers. I don't know, but that seems to be the most logical, straigh-forward approach...

Which large corporation should I start with? I live in the Silicon Valley.
Thank you very much for your help.

heh.... in Silicon Valley? take your pick! you are up to your eyeballs in IT-oriented corporations.

i am sure there are game developers in your area. try doing a search for various game-software companies and contact them by phone first to see if that sort of thing is workable.
