Roxio 6 Burning Method Question

Post by glears »

When would you use Disc-At-Once and when would you use Track-At-Once.

Also I can't seem to burn faster than 15X. My burner is a 52X Burner and the disc i use are 48X yet the "Selected Write Speed = 52X" and the "Actual Write Speed = 15X" and nothing else is running on my pc. It's not like I have a slow pc either. Below are the specs:

Operating System: Windows XP Pro
CPU: Athlon XP 2500+ Barton
Motherboard: Asus A7N8X-X
Memory: 2 X 256MB DDR PC-3200
HD: 120GB Western Digital 7200RPM 8meg cache

Roxio's support site is useless as well. I was able to burn faster using Nero. But I prefer Roxio. Any ideas

1. Try different CD-Rs

2. Uninstall one or the other

I tried different brand CD-R's and get the same problem. I only have Roxio installed at the moment.

If you're trying to make a data CD, use Disc-at-Once.

If you're trying to make a music CD, use Track-at-Once.

Make sure DMA is enabled for the burner or that's about the speed your going to get.

Quick question, are you writing on a CD-R or RW? I have a 24X and it peaks @25X with R's but drags with RW's. It may be in the design.

I re-installed Nero and it seams to burn fine. I had also updated the firmware with no luck on Roxio. I checked Roxio's compatibily list and my burner was not on it. That could by why it's not working.

Well ya A CDRW is different, if its a 24x12x40 drive, then it would write at 24x, but rewrite at 12x, and read at 40x.
