just tried it,.
with agp aperature at 128 it skips during scenes. and with multisampling at 1 looks like jagges hell.
turn multisampling to 2 looks alot better.
suprising how good it looks at 640x480.

theres also the point that even lower cards like my 9700 pro can run things that look that good and yet designers dont make them.Burke wrote:But the whole point is to run the demos on the cards that support the new features...otherwise, it's rather useless.
i mean sure a whole game with the amount of detail and such as the demo would be a total fps killer but the point is that it can be done cames could looka helluva lot better than the current line of games and they could run quite well.

AGAIN...
There is NO POINT in running demos not intended for older cards. Period.
It's an exercise in futility.
but absolutely i would LOVE to see this demo running real time on an x800 XT. and ive already started putting money aside.

your so adament , sorry im a bad speller, about its stupid to run the demo this way, then tell me do you play mame roms ? kawa-x
do you have a modded xbox with an n64 emu or snes emu ? or any other emulator?
why ? seems stupid to me to do that since its not the hardware it was designed for.
see my point.
do you run linux and yet run windows games or programs on it using wine or whatever that program is.

wth does that have to do with anything ? man you guys, take simple thread and twist it all around.
i never asked the legallity of this, i asked if you or others against this demo hack run emulators those were only examples. if you run anything on the hardware its not intended to, then to say this is dumb is the pot calling the kettle black.
its pretty much a mute point, and although i do see his point, why run it 1/2 way when it needs an x800 to run full steam, but ..
talking to a brick wall again..
nm.
if your against it why even reply. it serves no purpose.

no not a bad attitude, although i have never seen his attitude in other posts, he made a valid point, but he didnt need to say it, we all know we are missing out on the special features of the x800. but hey if we all thought like that then we would never have an amulator for any of the afore mentioned things i said. nor windows emu for linux,, hell probably wouldnt have have the graphics we have today if we thought like that. its how programmers and such squeeze more out of software/hardware. but forcing it to run on lower spec's and telling themselves wow if that works what can we make run normally?
anyways, threads going way off topic

It isn't an emulator. It's a wrapper. It takes code designed for the newer GPU and "translates" it into similar code for the r3xx series. The idea behind it is to try the new demo on this hardware, which we never really saw games take advantage of anyway. Yes some features are lost, but it's more of an eye candy thing -- like running the dawn demo on the r3xx series instead of the GFFX.
it's really no different then someone without a heavy art appriciation going to an art show.Burke wrote:I just see it like someone wanting to do some hot runs on some track in a Geo Metro because their neighbor's Ferrari can get up to 150 MPH.
through an untrained eye, they will see less within the artwork then a trained eye would. However, the image can still create an impression and be beautiful.
Same with this ati demo. While all the features will not be enabled, it will still be something to behold.
