I think the same thing happened to me.
Use an older version.

What causes it to do that? I need to set up my 3 kids' systems so it happens to them...they spend way too much time chatting....

LOL Wish I knew, scanned with avast housecall avg and trojan hunter, nothing came up, hijack this is normal too.

Just try restarting and opening it again. I find that works sometimes..
