One of my relatives is having trouble with some new parts he just ordered. He ordered an AMD 2500+, new mobo (can't remember Manufacturer..but i had never heard of it), and a stick of 512mb of pc3200 400mhz ddr.
The problem is after installing all of these components and hooking his hdd back up (which was from his old system with everything installed) he gets a "memory not being recognized error". His manual for his mobo says it will take 400 memory.
What can he do to get this working?

tried messing with the bios setup and the computer would boot to a black screen then reset....one time it came up with an error "partition hdd.." so i figured to reinstall winxp and everything turned out ok.
