Thumbdrive FREEZING computer
The only way to stop software piracy, is to make games SO cheap, it's not even worth burning. That might be a while..hehe

Is the computer OEM, or homebuilt? If homebuilt...is the motherboard grounded well, and the backplate tabs up against the grounds of the ports of the mobo correctly?
Was the computer upgraded from a prior OS?
Have you been in the habit of properly "shutting down" the USB device before physically removing the drive? Via that little icon in the systray...stop the device, then only remove it once you get a message saying "safe for removal".
Does the thumbdrive itself work fine in other computers? Maybe the drive itself is bad, not the computer.
Try a different USB port.
