Post by knightmare »

i see the amd 2500+ barton --mobile is being scooped up quick @newegg, its easily overclocked. Any concerns i should have about putting this mobile chip in a reg board and rig?

Are you overclocking it? If not its not worth it becuase the mobile chip only has a 266fsb instead of 333

haven't scored it yet, just looking, i'm not much of a oc'er, newbie at it

although i have a 2500 @ 3200 right now, with pc-3500 ram running in dual with 2 sticks of 512mb, on a shuttle board,
folding with it right now doing a good burn in,

i'm still more a intel, but thats due to my inexperience at oc'ing..

you can use this chip in any board that will take a regular barton

it will run comfortable at 2.4GHz and if you are lucky with the particular chip you recieve, you might be able to reach 2.7GHz with enough voltage and cooling

one more factor is that these chips run cooler than regular bartons, which may also be important to you

if you're running at 3200 speeds already, I'm not sure that the XP-M would be a great upgrade and you only guaranted a 200MHz increase, although it could be as much as 500MHz with the right chip and good air cooling

Depends if you are looking for a upgrade in performance or something to play with ;)
