hello...

i'd like to ask help...coz i'm planning to buy a cam for my mother....but her comp is old....a celeron 533mhz with 256ram...it used to be mine way way back....and she's like into chatting now and she asked me to buy her a web cam....

any suggestions on what webcam to buy for an old computer?

Logitech quick cams are very inexpensive, and that's all your mother will need. Approx $35 or less (Canadian)

As long as there is a USB port on your mother's PC the CPU, and ram she has are fine.

most cams are USB. The thing to watch out for is the OS .

Since you are running that old celeron you are prolly running win 98 which is cool and all but your are really going to be bogging it down running a cam on that machine. I have a Celeron 1100 with 256 memory and the celerons CPUs just don't have a lot to em.

I would really keep your eyes open for an upgrade in the future for Grandma.

But if you are going for a webcam, Logitech are good for the money. try to avoid a brand you have not heard of ... and avoid memorex completely. They have no business in computer parts IMHO.

Intels are good too ....
