that's what i love about college here, you can pick and choose the classes you WANT to take!
I followed the Computer Hardware and Troubleshooting course for my Associates for about a year, but then thought, right now I can get farther with Certifications in specific things. I know a hell of a lot of stuff already, but I just don't have any official documents or certificates saying I know what i know!
SO, I'm changing all that, getting certs in stuff so i can prove i know what i know
And my first one here is the MCSE
Now Last semester I started with MCSE on the NT4 track, but that's a dieing thing, it was useless to continue all the way for my MCSE on NT 4.0 so I just went as far as Taking 2 Core tests and became an MCP.
And now this Semester I have started FRESH, on the MCSE 2000 Track. So right now I'm an MCP on NT4.0 but soon after I take and pass my Win2k Pro test I'll be an MCP 2000. Then after I take the other six Tests I'll have my Full MCSE. I plan to be a Full MCSE by Summers End of this year. 7 tests is a lot! And some are really hard! It's not the information, it's the TESTS Microsoft went bazerk from what I heard on the questions and how hard and off the wall they are!
My instructor for Network Infrastructure 2000 took his test the other day for this one, he got a 680 the passing score is 620, that's DAMNED close and he's been doin this stuff for about 16 years now, and has been doin the Microsoft stuff for a very long time, he's an MCSE on the NT4.0 track and all. He said it's not the informatin, it's Microsoft their questions are off the freakin wall! He's takin 3 of the Win2k MCSE 2000 tests now, he did all three in about a month and a half, he's got 4 more to go till he's a full MCSE on 2000, which he has to be to teach the classess, heheheheheh.
Anyways i'm startin, haven't taken a 2k test yet, but in about 6 weeks I'll prolly be ready for the first one, and it's gonna be hard this i know.
But i'm having fun in the classes, we have Lecture then Hands On, we get to Install Win2k, setup dual boots, setup all kinds of cool ****! It's the hands on stuff where you really learn it well. We are assigned our own hard drives, they are removeable it's really neat, we get our hard drives outta the cabinet, and they just slide into the computer on the front (they are insdie a 5.25" drive bay) and turn on the computer and it works

Makes it real easy since they teach a lot of computer classes in that room.
The PC specs aren't that bad either, They are Celeron 466's 128MB SDRAM, 10GB Hard Drives, Intel i810 Mobo with integrated AGP graphics chip, 17" monitor, etc. etc. all on a 100BaseTX LAN with a Net connection of a T1 line
There are a couple of classes I want to take also that this college offers, an HTML class where they learn HTLM, DHTML, Front Page, and WebDesign. Then there is a webscripting class where they learn Java basiscs, CGI, ASP i think also (they might do php

not sure though) and Server scripting and webstuffs, really cool. I wanna take those 2 classess just for my own knowledge, i know a lot but there's a lot I don't know
