You'll find the Linksys B routers under $100 but I don't think you'll find any G routers that low as of right now.

I just installed a Netgear wireless "G" router last night for a friend. It was $80 w/ shipping at Newegg and had a $20 rebate. I had it up and running in about 10 min from the time I started to open the box. This was my first experience with a wireless and I was very impressed.

I would assume if it only took you 10 minutes you didn't enable WEP or MAC filtering for that matter... If you friend is in a well populated I would do that. If he's out in the sticks or back in the woods, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

D-Link SuperG.

Why?

Log the following page. The differences between the first set of graphs to the second represent the performance differences between 802.11b to 802.11g

Link to: 802.11a/b/g SOHO Routers & Access Points: Performance

Notice how the D-Link and Netgear Super G arewell above the rest of the Crowd.

D-Link sells bellow $100. Netgear sells a little above $100.
