I get about 321 kb/s give or take 50-100 kb/s (even at it's slowest if kicks my old 28.8 kb/s with my 56k

The Time Warner and Insight Roadrunner caps are 3000/384 in most locations. Brighthouse Roadrunner is still 2000/384. Columbus, OH and thereabouts is 3000/512.

There are rumors about Brighthouse increasing the speed. They are supposedly beta testing. Similarly, there are rumors that the 512 upload will be offered across the board.

Download is a little off, but for the most part, I hit the cap 3000.
My upload always has been way below the 384. I often wonder if they don't have North East Ohio set for 256.

I had TW Roadrunner here in Houston for 3 months and it was fast (800 - 1k+ kbps) and reliable..... until Dec. 6th of this month. I will be switching to DSL now this Jan. (which really bugs me as I had been doing nicely with cell phone only).

I was / am experiencing huge packet loss (60% sometimes) which RR can't diagnose the problem. After two vacation days, 2 weekend days, and 20+ hrs of telephone time, I still don't have any acceptable packet loss (which translates to a 20kbps (yes - that's 20) to 200ish kbps on a good day.

The cable people don't seem to have a systematic way to diagnose the line problem and no single field repair person is able to take the time to find the problem.. (he puts in his allotted 30min. service time, confirms I have the packet loss, and says he will have to refer it to.... someone else).

I'm in an apt. complex and everyone is having the same problem (RR wasn't aware of that as they don't track service calls by area - individual customers only - so if it isn't a complete down-system, each repair person would, to my frustration, want to start with my modem, unaware of any previous visits. The property manager is still hanging in there to work with them, but I've given up. There appears to be a big disconnect between the technical help via phone and the information that gets translated to the sevice group. They show up completely unaware of any of the previous diagnostics / results done previously. (Most start off with "so you're having trouble with your cable?")

I have yet to transfer to DSL (I use HotSpot locations for now) and will see if this is more reliable.

That's my experience anyway for what it's worth!

RoadRunner is capped at 3Mbps/384kbps, a rumor is going around saying that as a holiday gift everyone will be upgraded to 512kbps upstream speeds, but we don't know if it's gonna happen yet...

yeah I know how it feels, brighthouse isn't upgrading the speeds they claim..

I think I hit 180kb/s, once, and it receeded immediately back to 160. I live out in the middle of nowhere, but they just redid the cabling, and I think they've got a fiber-optic backbone. It's mostly p2p, but shouldn't I be getting a consisent speed somewhere above 200?

I'm having such a blast with RR.
After seven years of AOL, too.
