Wireless Netgear MR814 and TCP/ip optimizer problems

Post by neil78b »

Well, I used the optimizer on my WinXp computer and network cards and got a great change in download and overall networking configuration. The problem is that the internet connection goes down for no reason at all. I have used 2 different network cards in my computer and they both have the same results of going down. My connection comes right back up when i restart my netgear router. I had no problems with my connection going down until i used the optimizer, but I dont want to get rid of it because it really works well. The MTU values are both 1500 on the router and network cards. The connection goes down everytime i go to sleep and wake in the morning. My Road Runner service is running smoothly the whole time, I just have to reset my router every morning. I even stayed up all night to see what happens when it goes down, it just goes down and I cant surf the web or anything on the internet, but my network card is connected with a strong connection to the router and RR is running smoothly. I just have to reset my router which has the latest firmware upgrade as well as my network cards. I did notice that when it goes down I cant access my router until it is reset. I also tried it without the router and just used a hard connection and get the same results. Is it possible that the connection is to high on receiving and sending, making connection go down. Any solutions would be great. Thanks THE SAINT :p

hey I know that the I am replying to is super old but I have the same exact problem. I was wondering about the tcp optimizer, did you just use optimal settings or did you do a custom one??

I forgot to update this post when I figured out the problem. I always use the optimal settings on tcp optimizer. Well, I actually found out that the problem for my connection going down was on the programs that I was using, I had to many open ports. I had to set them to a lower number and it solved the problem. My settings were for 80 open ports and I set it to 40 in the program that I was using. Just because I thought my fast connection could handle the traffic, it turned out that it still needed to set in the software for a lower bandwidth. So, look in your programs settings, whichever program you are using while the connection goes down, usally a file sharing program and set the max connections or open ports to a lower number. Hope that helps, it worked on my connection. Laterz :)
