Punkbuster anti cheat in next Battlefield patch

Being tested now in upcoming 1.6...

"Word on the Battlefield is that the next patch to BF1942 will include new anti-cheat measures:

In response to the #1 request from the community, DICE & EA are proud to announce the inclusion of anti-cheat measures in the next patch for Battlefield 1942. The Battlefield team is committed to providing an exploit-free gaming environment for members of our community. Our goal is to have measures in place which address both current and future cheats. As such, after researching existing anti-cheat programs, we've determined that Punkbuster suits our purposes perfectly. We'll keep everyone updated as to our progress. For now, we have successfully integrated Punkbuster into the upcoming 1.6 patch and we're in the process of testing it."

Great news! Although, I was never really all that concerned about cheats in bf for some reason. I've never noticed. Well maybe the time an enemy walked through my C4 blast.

Yeah, I haven't seen anything really myself. Yeah back when Coral Sea map first came out...that carrier exploit. That was more of a bug in that level design...an exploit. Yes still consider it cheating. But to me....bf has remained clean of what used to be common cheats in the Quake series, and Unreal Tournament..."Bots". Haven't seen stuff like that yet. Auto-aim bots, etc. Although I have to admit, I enjoyed playing against players with bots on the Quake 3 server we used to run. I'd have a very low ping to that server since I co-located it at my ISP, so I had an average ping of 20 - 30. Cheating players with bots would log in....with normal pings of 60, 80, 100. I could hold them off pretty well when my rail gun skills were at their peak. Sure they'd often beat me...ending the level in 1st place. But I got a good laugh since they would barely beat me...I'd come in a close 2nd place..and rag on them hard, since I wasn't using a bot. Then after rubbing it in good...I'd ban 'em!

Anyways, back to bf, the only time I wondered....was last night...we had another excellent battle of 73 easting. Faust was there. There was this kid, we were playing on the Iraqi side...and this kid started the level right off hopping into the Scud launcher...just turning it a bit...and repeat launching fast as he could. He was quickly hitting the Coalition base. Hit after hit! He ended the level in 2nd place...with 20 something kills. Got me wondering...either he practiced a lot, and memorize the angle/trajectory pretty well to hit the base that quickly...or... Hmmm.

He memorized it YOSc, cause I can do it as well.

I've grown a little bored of 100 kills by just turning slightly and firing (cloud memory). If I do it now, it's only for a couple shots then I'll scurry off. I feel too cheap when I sit there.

Being coalition sucks when it's happening so I don't so much anymore.

It was fun at first though.

Huh...memorize the general area to aim at...the pop shots at slight variances til you get the first kill...consider that the lock...and keep firing? How many shots til you are zero'd in? And how do you know if you are truely zero'd in? And not just getting the occasional guy leaving the complex in one direction.

I have had artillery called in and watched them almost hit the flag pole lol. It does take some practice and I do vary slightly in height. That allows me to hit the back or front or centre of the base.

I wonder if they will ever address the hide in wall glitch. I had a dude firing at me with mortars from inside the factory yesterday.

Or if you've noticed you can get into vehicles, aa and such from below deck or on the ground floor. Just be below it and enter a vehicle as you normally would. Beats walking up to it.

ive shot guys point blank range with about 20 rounds with the heavy support weapon and they not die...ive been killed through walls by small arms fire...there is cheating going on its just not that noticable[sp]
the next time you light up a fighter or a helo with AA and you cant down it but yet you are nailing it with every shot cause of the lil puffs of smoke for like five minutes...i think someones cheating

Ive played a few games with punk buster without many people i suspected of cheating but it sure aint the best Cheat-Prevention Program Ive ever seen either. Ive been thinkin about gettin 42 then gettin DC mod but i think ill hold out till Battlefield Vietnam.

Some might, but some have also bitched about me "camping" with the sniper rifle. wtf? Camping is a legitimate strategy anyhow

People are weird.

B'sides, you're supposed to blast the base with the SCUD. It's not exactly very mobile.

yeah that gets me...its war there was camping it was called strategy...i play Americas Army, on a certain map, i camped...at the end of the bridge...why? cause to win the game they had to come to us (at the end of the bridge) so instead of them getting the advantage on me i stayed behind, and waited...watched all my team mates get killed and then try to take out 5 guys that came through the arch...sometimes i won sometimes i died...but they all wined and moaned about me camping there...its war not UNREAL!!!

Sito and Immy coordinated on the Scud to great effect last night at Easting. Fun to watch the spotter calls go by, then the scuds come sailing in. We still lost, great battle for over an hour.

find a good spot, get cover and pick 'em out!

A sniper shouldn't be dancing with some dude and an auto weapon!

This has been up on the BF forums over and over again with regards to the puffs of smoke, unless the crosshairs light up, you aren't really hitting them no matter what you see. I've had the same issue occasionally. It's a lag/netcode issue from what I understand. I've nailed the choppers with rockets at point blank range with them hovering nxt to me and it explodes right on them but no marks in the crosshairs and no damage done to them.

Cmon now..I been playin long enough now to know that there ar e definetely health cheats,full clip cheats(shoot a whole magazine in 1 shot),radar cheats,and no recoil cheats.

Those are the biggest ones,where a good cheater will be hard to catch as it is now-.I am a sof2 player also and have run a (punkbuster)server before.There more to it then just turning it on.A good admin will make GOOD use of this addtion to Bf 1942-IMO,and i welcome it alot!

I kinda felt bad about this one, but nobody saw me laying down on the awning in this map. I pretty much layed here the whole game and wasted 1 guy after another. I don't consider it a cheat or camping because I took the stairs to the roof and then walked off of it. Anyone could have killed me if they had just looked up!LOL

The tree helps cover you too.

The only thing I am sorry about is showing everyone where I was!

LOL and if you look at the guns in those two pictures you can see that I also had time to climb down when I ran out of ammo and get Immy's gun. Never been fired and only dropped once!!!

There are lots of cheats for BF AND DC.... they ruin the godamn game... some people its so obvious.... the most used hack is the radar hack.... where you can see enemies names through the wall like you do with yoru own teammates... and you can see them on the radar as well.
