Digital Cameras

Post by BaLa »

I'm looking for a digital camera for around $250..

I thought this looks pretty good..

FUJI FinePix S3000 3.2MP,6X OPT,3.2X DG,1.8" Lcd,xD
http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduct.a ... 6830122018

Imager:1/2.7" 3.34MP CCD
Megapixels:3.2MP
Zoom:6X OPT,3.2X DG,19.2X Total
Aperture Range:F2.8-F8.2
Shutter Speeds:3-1/1500s
LCD:1.8"
Auto Focus:normal
6x Optical Zoom ;)
http://www.dcviews.com/_Fuji/s3k.htm

I really don't know a lot..
I know the cams with fixed lenses aren't too good, for Zoom (Optical vs. Digital Zoom)
Optical Zoom is better than Digi.
and the higher the MP the better :)

so

'tis a pretty good camera?..
or should I look for/at something else?..

I'm still using my parents Olympus D560 Zoom 1.3mp, takes decent pics..not a bad cam..but I want my OWN camera :D

It looks like a well built camera, and i like the view finder / LCD combo. My grandpa got a Fuji camera a few months ago, hes really happy with it.

I didnt see any resolution sizes in general info so here yah go,
Available resolutions- 1600x1200, 1280x960, 640x480 pixels

I am really just 'toying' with the idea of getting one for XMas..
I'll have to throw some moneys on there..but what the heck....I've been wanting one for a while..

not sure..so many things so little moneys..
I want to upgrade my comps, want an mp3 player, digi cam..
hmmmm :p

the more I research, the more I'm liking this.... ;)

nobody else, has used any Fujifilm cams?..
or heard of them..

I tried to find some reviews..
didn't come up with anything good..
it's a 'new' camera model I guess....

I did come up with 2 more reviews at Amazon.com

one of them was complaining about not having any audio in the movie mode...which I thought was pretty stupid..

if it "is" 3.34mega pixes, it will have a higher resolution than 1600x1200 most likely it will be 2048*1536. :)

My first digicam was a FujiFilm. I have also had a couple of 35mm FFilm cams and have never had a problem. I still have my 2.1mp P&S FFilm cam setup too. Never use it anymore though. Guess I should sell it...

Anyway, nothing wrong with FFilm cams. I'd buy another one without reservation.

I think I might get the S5000

unless I find somebody somewhere that thinks the S3000 is better...
I guess it will depend on how much money I save up.. :)

I like the look of the camera...unlike some of the others (small cams) it will be like you actually have something in your hand..

and also the optical zoom capability...
there's a review of the S5000 I found...
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/fujifilms5000/

it's really only rated average.....but for the price
S3000 $250 6x Optical Zoom
S5000 $319 10x Optical Zoom
