Car Thread: Need some advice
My mom is in the market to buy a new car, after doing research, test driving and talking to friends for experience, she decided that she's going to go for the Toyota Camery 2004 SE, with leather interior and all the fixings (6 cd changer, alloy rims, 245or 255HP V6 engine), moon roof and whatever else comes with the se edition. The total price (in canadian dollars) on which she was quoted after all the taxes and shipping costs was $38,000 + or - a bit, I can't remember the exact figure. Now I was wondering what you all though about the car and the price. Personally I was rooting for her to check out the Honda Accord 2004 with the same options, they found a Honda Accord 2003 EX with all the fixings, but the catch was it had 20,000 clicks on the meter and was $32,000 ( it was a demo model and had the same warranty on it.)
Now which of the two is the better deal? Should she get the Toyota or the Honda? And if the Honda, should she get the demo or a new model from 2004? Anyways thanks in advance for your opinions.

Hi terrancelam
The Toyota Camray may not be the most exciting car in the world but it is Stone Reliable. A good practical car you can depend on for years to come.
Fit, finish, quiet are all right up with the best. The engine is first class as well.
Also there are so many about Parts & Service are reasonable as well.
Honda is right up there also, but in this instance i'd go the Camray route as you know what your getting.
regards

My wife bought a demo car before we met. I did a VIN number search, just for the hell of it, and found out it was a rental car from Arizona. I doubt that car was a demo with that many miles on it, it was probably a loaner, and people run the hell out of cars that aren't thiers.
Get the new one.

No mistake in choosing the Camry. There's a reason it's garnered so many awards. Not to knock the Honda either. One of those "Should be happy with either that you chose" things. The Camry was made towards the mature female market...it's a snug fit for her.
She drove it...she knows what she likes in cars, and if it made her happy driving it...hey, that's the ultimate decision maker.

Guinness for Strength!!!
Our family has two cars:
1997 Camry LE with 75k miles
2000 Honda Accord Coupe V6 with 50k miles
The Camry is a far better family car. We have had our Camry going on seven years and not a single repair needed, I kid you not. Except for replacing the oil and standard tune-up things, this car has needed NO REPAIRS!! NONE!!!! My father has owned many cars ranging from the Ford 65 Mustang to Volkswagon Beetle and he has said the Camry was the BEST CAR HE HAS EVER OWNED!
the 2000 Honda Accord Coupe on the other hand is designed more for the driver and lemme tell you this, the v6 really rips. However, there have been minor repairs needed, like the speedometer randomly stuck and the seat broke.
All in all, if you want sport, go for the Accord, but if you want the most reliable comfortable car for the price, go with the Camry.

Guess which one I am gonna recommend? ..........
err ..... the Honda of course
Although you really would be good to go with either. My g/f has a Toyota and has had ZERO problems with it. It is a 1998 Corolla and it has 170,000 miles on it (she drives 120 miles round trip each day).

Toyota parts arent that expensive, plus most of them are basically chevy anyways, and vise versa. My 01 Corolla S has never let me down, runs awesome, even after being blasted on the left side (repaired of course). Hondas are reliable too, I love both car companies and would buy from either so its a tuff call really. Both the Accord and the Camry are very well built and rock solid. I think im going to keep my Corolla forever...
