Who's Network+ or Server+ certified?

Post by fastchevy »

I was thinking about taking the tests..anyone know much about them?

I'm also interested in the Security+ test. But I'd have to study for a while on that one.

Network + a while ago....unlike the A+, I don't believe they changed that test much.

Kinda tedious, but nothing overwhelming at all...know your OSI model well.

Security+ is on the horizon for me.. I bought a study guide a few weeks ago for it but I'm also trying to finish my MCSA before taking it, so I still have 70-218 to pass first.

Passed Network+ last year.. You don't have to be an expert on all the protocols but you have to be familiar with them. The OSI model is important, as well as the various network topologies and how troubleshooting is performed within the various types of network environments.

I recommend these books, for an easy read of the exam stuff:

Good Luck!

I would go M$ and Sybex ... the Sybex is a little easier read usually, but you want the M$ for cross referencing.

Thanks

The Microsoft seems to have much better practice qustions but seems a bit dry in reading, I think I will go with that one.

Btw what practice tests did you take? Transcender?

I've got my Network + currently, but would like to get CCNA w/in a year from now.

I only had about 10 months worth of work experience with networking before I took the Network + training class and test. A lot of it I had already learned from my work experiences but there were definitely things I did know. I don't think the test was really hard, but I did study quite a bit.
