Via chipset and cd burning

Post by jasonruiz85 »

Ive heard there were a few problems with burning software and the chipset, well ive had them, mostly bsod or the screen freezes. I did what they said and installed the IDE tools but sometimes it still happens and i waste a cd, or even when installing something from a cd it will freeze. Anyone know anyway to fix this?

Well first go to the VIA website, and get the latest Hyperion 4 in 1 drivers.

Just FYI, DO NOT use the latest Hyperion drivers (version 4.49) they have crashed EVERY pc I have installed them all. Use the 4.48 version they are MUCH more stable.

You need to scan your pc for spyware with Ad Aware & SpyBot.

speaking of adaware, i just scanned a buddies PC today and he had 350 items found, 245 were cookies and the rest were registry items.

i just scanned it like 3 weeks ago too

Have you scanned for spyware as I suggested? What speed are the CDRs you are using and what speed is your burner? Have you tried lowering the burn speed? How much RAM do you have? What cd burning app are you using?

Scan for spyware, trojans, worms, viruses, web bugs, browser hi-jackers, keyloggers, remote access servers, and whatever else you can find a scanner for.

lol @via chipset guess.

May be a heat issue. Take the side off your case and try it.

No, i think i found the problem on the nero site. After 3 cdws (all froze) i checked the site and it mentioned that having the DMA on can cause crashes and hangs, so i switched it off and burnt a cd and it worked. So hopefully it will stay that way.

Actually you should have DMA enabled.

Also why aren't you answering anyone's questions? You did ask for help.
