Im using windows XP AMD 1800 512ram and geforce3..i never had any of those problems before. So i got my DSL modem yesterday FINALY! and got it running np ..wow the speed woo!
But i have one major problem since i got this tho ..windows is much longer to boot! After i booted, the desktop pops but not the desktop icons! i can not do anything but move my pointer for a full min. Wth? i called my isp to ask what was the prob and they said its normal its windows thats initializing(sp?) the modem or something so it takes longer ..ok fine but a FULL minute?
More details: Windows boots fine but cannot exec any programs, pointer moves fine, the hard drive aint working during the pause. Then after a minuter my tray progs starts(msn nvidia and winamp only) and my desktop icons appears then everything is normal.
I just formatted and re-installed windows. Same prob plus more heh i connect to the net and ctach two worms right away yay! My puter was shutting down on its own ..i didnt figure out i caught worms cuz i hadnt DLed anything but after 3 reboots while i windows updates ...i decided to install Norton internet security and discovered the worms gr! I got rid of em ..i hoped they were the cause of windows lag but no it still takes a full min for desktop to be ready.
Not to mention the shadows under desktop icons mysteriously disappeared and replaced by black color thats bleeding all around the icons and that outlook express also lags ..after i clicked the shortcut it takes a minute to start and stare at outlook splash screen meanwhile.
ok thats about it..im going to reformat tonight..if you have any idea on to fix anything i mentioned..i would be most grateful
