it'll cost you... but i really really hate being a tool.

In Calif. and a couple other states I know of off the top of my head that officer commited a crime (I was a dep. sherrif and know that was a no-no). 1 - Call a lawyer or your local DA and find out. 2 - Or call him and lie and possibly earn his wrath and your own eternal personal ticketing officer. 3 - Or pay your fine and slow it down mister. :D

well... and not to sound like an arse...... but that's what you get. and i can say this because i have been in the very same position (owed fine money that i didn't have) when i was younger for doing stupid things (again, not meant as an insult).

IMO, you will only owe them money for so long (they have payment plans and community service. just explain to the judge what you CAN pay in cash, and he may work something out for you as far as doing community service to make up the balance).

becoming an informant will is a guilt you will live with for a long time.

sounds fishy.

I'd definately contact a lawyer because what he's doing might be illegal or at least questionable. He was definately baiting you for information with the size of that ticket.

I would certainly NOT lie and make something up. I also wouldnt tell him the truth because the wrath of the people involved might be worse then the 600 ticket.

Hi morbidpete

The Rat is trying to turn you. Screw him.

Stick with your i didn't go their and Know nothing about what happened.

I doubt very much what he is doing is Legal & you could seek out a Lawyer and probably beat his A$$. However you'd be on the List of every Cop in town from there on in.

Ask for time and pay the Fine. By the way Tape any conversation you have with this Prince among men

By the way i wouldn't call him. let him come to you

I would challenge the ticket explain to the judge how the officer was blackmailing you into doing police work.

then make sure you drive the speed limit from now on bcz he will be on your ass!

That cop could get in alot of trouble. I suppose the cop figures he would be some kinda hereo if you actually got him some info that lead to an arrest.

Cop >" if you have any information bring it to me I will be at the donut shop from 10 am - 7 pm"

^ what a hero

what a discrace to the police force :(

wheres russle?

I was going to post a link to that thread, but the SG search results for "bullsh|t" were too numerous

sometimes you have to think outside the box to get inside the box ;).

Lol Randy, telling the judge the cop blackmailed him won't do any good. It'll do harm. judge won't believe it and will come down harder on the kid for making up such a 'wild' story. Maybe in Canada that would work but not here.

unless, he's in Canada???

I don't think he will be able to do anything.
He has held back on processing the ticket for a start.

Ignore the guy. If he tries to arrange a meeting, don't turn up.
If you end up in court, tell the Judge and let him deal with it.

Morbidpete, more bad news for ya. If that ticket ever sees the ligt of day your career in pizza delivery is toast. 75 in a 25 means instant license suspension in most places.

I'd make some name/ info up. First let me say, if you go the DA, who are they going to believe???? Someone with a $600 ticket or the cop??? THEY WILL NOT BELIEVE A WORD YOU SAY trust me on this. If you think you can get out of the ticket by giving up information, then do it. If you can come up with a few names that were really at the party that's even better. Screw the other ppl, they broke the law so if you rat them out it doesn't matter. You broke a traffic law, they broke several state laws which by the way were felonies.

Do you want to help the people that destroyed public property?

I notice some real anti-law enforcement sentiment here, for whatever personal reasons.

There are bad people everywhere, on either side of the law enforcement line, this I do know. I question the actions of the officer and suggest that you contact an attorney NOT IN YOUR SMALL TOWN and proceed from there. You need EXPERT advice, not comments from members here that obviously have an ax to grind against the law enforcement community.

Don't bother with the info, or the ticket. Await your court date... get all of your lesser infringements fixed.. (headlight, etc... ) and take proof with you to court that you had them fixed. Can you be stopped for no seatbelt in your state? If so... pay that one... and then challenge the calibration records of the speed recording device. Most cops don't even that that kind of stuff to court with them. If the cop can't produce calibrations records dated within 30 days prior to the ticket, the judge tosses it out. I have beat many speeding tickets that way.. and I am a professional driver. Get the advice of a lawyer, tell him just what you shared with us here... see where you can go.. most lawyers offer a free consult.

Best of Luck!

Buthey sound like a bunch of dicks that deserve to get caught anyway. I'd call him and tell him you what you know...but no harm taping the conversation, just in case :D Make sure you make it clear theres a trade off for the ticket when you talk.

It's not corrupt. It's actually rather solid policework. Sorry, but it is. It's smart as hell.

A known 19 year old bsing with friends about that party where the stuff got trashed is going to get a completely different reaction than some uniformed officer asking questions and holding a clipboard writing down answers.

He, the cop is trying to figure out who did it. You, (the speeder) are his way of getting info about the group in general. If you weren't there, then you can probably (in a smaller town) find out who was or might've been or know someone who has more info.

That's a trail he can follow and that's what he's looking for. A place to start.

You're asking to get out of a speeding ticket plus multiple other offences that he simply doesn't have to let you out of. He's trying to solve a crime that hurt no one but little kids trying to play. You either make the deal and help yourself and the community or you don't.

Regards,

I've known two people personally that got hurt BAD for ratting out people. One guy got hit by two cars when somebody cut the brake lines on his motorbike, The other guy had his head smashed and jaw broken with pool sticks.

I don't know if it's worth all that over some smashed bleachers. Maybe if it were somebody's life or loss of life it may be worth getting involved in.

On the other hand, maybe a good asskicking will keep you from doing 75 in a 25. If you want to race take it to the track or some remote area. Not main street where you take a chance of killing somebody other then yourself.

If he tried to bring on the fine next week, which he almost definitely won't, I'd fight it, but why are so many people against him ratting these guys out? They burnt down a little girls baseball park or something, didn't they? If I knew something I'd call the cops anyway.
He just has to make a phone call, who would know anyway? Its not like he's finking out his old buddies from the columbia cartel or something, he's just helping catch some guys that deserve to be caught in the first place.

you DESERVED that ticket..

75 in a 25 GEEZ...

I also heard that the tickets are numbered and they can't just rip one up?..dunno..
also, last few times I got a ticket (only 2) the cops couldn't/wouldn't tell me how much it was I had to call to find out how much it was even..
