was wondering, cuz a 250 watt sub is good enough for my house. couldnt think of why u'd need 5 1000 watt ones in a trunk.

i actually dont need any in my car, for my needs.

Someone has entirely too much money and doesn't know what to do with it!

more then 1 sub will obviously distribute the boom in a more equal manner.
it will allow higher highs and lower lows.
brings alot more clarity to your sound system.
and will keep you from blowing all your speakers cause it does.
distribute in a more equal fashion.

if i have 1 or 10 everythign will be equal. i think its crazy and aside for 2 12's and 3 10's i would say stupid. if i crank up the bass on my car speakers i just installed my little altima can 'thump' even sub-less.

i saw a fiero today with 5 10's

also when u say distribute the boom more equally. it doesnt matter the placement of a sub really. if u have a sub in the corner of ur room or in the middle, it sounds the same, but now just put one in the middle of ur trunk, and tada! all set LOL

i think u misunderstood what im saying.
im saying more then 1 sub will distribute the boom more equaly meaning the same amount of boom through each speaker not place ment of the speaker.

Not necassirily true unless they are setup correctly. Having multiple subs will create a phasing problem and could actually sound worse if not done by someone "in the know"

Ok. One sub. I know NO technical reason on what I am about to say, but it's true for me.

I had one 12"subwoofer with a 600watt amp. Yea, ok. It was hittin' (bass) pretty good, but as TheSucka said, it seems like it can hit the low's and high's better whenever I got my second 12" subwoofer. It just sounded much clearer and lower ohms, which is better.

Now the technical part that I know for a fact.
You have two 12's.. both pushing 6ohms?
ok, so in reality it is really pushing 4ohms (reminding yourself you are equiped with right amplifier)

Erm, my noise is hurting.. I think I got a cold *sneezes* ACHOO

ok yea

for me..2-12" and 3-10" is the norm around here..i got 2-12", 2-6"x9", 2-6", and 2 4". subs run off there own 1000 watt amp and mids and tweeters run of there own 640 watt amp..sounds great with bass blockers on all the mids...but back to the 1 or 2 subs..i have a dodge intrepid..i need 2...1 sounds kinda funny..cant put my finger on it..so i need 2 so i can feel the bass from all the way from the back of the car..

P.S. i now realize that my post is all over the place..lol

Must be fun to ride down Main Street with the windows rolled down, right?

Not really. At a curb weight of about 10,000 pounds, the Caravan is basically undrivable. There is virtually no room for a driver, and even less for a pas- senger. "We need more batteries, but that's all the room we have," Irving gripes. But he can at least sit in his driveway and listen to music, yes? Actually, no. Irving's audio system can't play music. It's designed to play a single frequency—74 Hz—very loud. Irving, you see, is a dB drag racer.

dB (as in decibel) drag racing is an obscure but growing international "sport" in which competitors go head-to-head for two or three seconds at a time—hence the name drag racing—to establish whose sound system is loudest. The 2002 record, set by a German team of secretive audio engineers, was 177.6 dB.

The roar of a 747 on takeoff is usually quantified at about 140 decibels, although there's really no way to correlate the wide-spectrum noise of jet engines in open air with a low-frequency pure tone inside a highly reflective enclosure. Because the decibel scale is logarithmic, with every 10 dB increase equivalent to a doubling of perceived sound (otherwise known as noise), dB drag racing enthusiasts create some seriously loud tones.

Wow....

I crack up as I hear some cars with sub putting out such volume, you hear parts of the car actually rattle...sounds pathetic.

And why so some peeps insist, if they have a hatchback, on driving around with the rear hatch actually open...with the subwoofer pointing out backwards? I swear one day I'm going to pull up behind one at a stoplight...and shove a broomstick through the woofer.
