CDROMs use basic Windows drivers that are built into Windows, you might look for a firmware update for your burner, just go to the manufacturer's site.

This firmware upgrade is for firmware versions 1.04 and 1.05 to go to version 1.06

but my firmware is @ 1.03

and theres a Dos & Win3.x Device Drivers, should i download that too for the cd-rom?

"This upgrade is not designed for drives manufactured for Packard Bell, HP, NEC, IBM, Compaq, Dell or any other OEM "
my computer is a an HP

should i try to install it or not?

I would say no. I think I'd be giving HP a little piece of my mind and problem. I haven't looked, but is there any firmware for it on there site or did you purchase the drive aftermarket? If you bought it aftermarket, then yes, I'd install the manufacturers drivers.

Then there is the possibility that it's not aftermarket but made specific for your computer..
You need to get on HP's site and look for the firmware for it..
The tools of conquest do not necessarily come with bombs and explosions and fallout. There are weapons that are simply thoughts, attitudes, and prejudices to be found only in the minds of men. For the record, prejudices can kill and suspicion can destroy and a thoughtless, frightened search for a scapegoat has a fallout all of its own for the children and the children yet unborn and the pity of it is that these things cannot be confined to the Twilight Zone.
