Jessica Lynch is actually sort of...

Post by Brk »

...attractive. Much more so than than that ubiquitous straight-on pic we've all seen would belie. At least in an ex-P.O.W. sort of way. And her Forrest Gump-like wave kind of irks me, but oh well.

Well I'm going to step out of this thread, since the main point of it has already been made.

Once Mehmet answers why, I'd rather not risk a cranial blood vessel over the ensuing fracas.

oh and let's judge her on how attractive she is instead of giving her the respect she deserves for serving her country.

I think burke is just complementing her on her beauty.. judging would be like.... she's pretty but she can't do anything... or.. she's too beautiful to get anything done...

he's just saying.. she's pretty... I think...

that's the way it is... I mean.. the first thing anyone looks at is someone's looks...

Sadly that is how most of our first impression of someone is made... how someone dresses or looks... an even sadder thing is that most of the time our guesses are right and we rely on it...

so if we see a well dressed man.. we probably will treat him better than a poorly dressed man... just how it is I suppose...

God...I have to step back in here for a clarification.

The entire reason for the post originally was to say that she looks a lot better than that one pic we've all seen of her against the American flag background lead me to believe.

No denigration of her ability as a soldier or such was intended nor implied.

Out again.

 I definitely agree! She's hoooooootttttt :D

And Mehmet??? Bitter? It's the press that's making here a war hero not her. The government wants a poster child for the war and she's the one. That's all I'll say until you respond for a better reason than just your two cents.

how is she a hero guys? How? She got herself in a sticky situation, people came and saved her, BOOM, shes a war hero. woopdefreakindoo. My butt cheeks would make better POW's. Its just the media feeding you the propaganda you want to hear. "oh jessica lynch was saved today from those mean old muslim men who rape little kids."

I cant believe shes actually accepting all this fame, what did she do? really, she was a POW, ok, so what? answer that question and ill continue with my ranting that nobody really cares about, and the majority of people here will probably go uh whatever and go back to drinking beer.

I'd just say what ill say... in a chinese saying.. it's not like she wanted to be put upon the pedestal for people to praise.. only others can put her on...

so If I'm going to say anything is... well good job for doing your work.. and dang it sucks for them to put u on a high pedestal and someone will just want to push her down... it has to be hard for her too yah know..

I basically agree with everything you say about Pvt Lynch. Its the press that's making her into the hero. Just like the press giving us a damn body count every damn day!! It's still a war over there!! Of course soldiers are going to die!

Just think, if you would of said this in your first post = lot less negativity towards your remarks. :)

I' don't usually get into these but let my throw 2 cents in here:

"Throughout the course of history, this country has remained free, not because of movie stars and liberal activists, but because of brave men and
women who hated war too. However, they lay down their lives so that we all may live in freedom. After all - "Greater love hath no man, than that he lay down his life for his friend," or in this case a country.

We should give our military honor and acknowledgement and not let their lives be in vain. If you want to see true human shields, walk through Arlington Cemetery. There lie human shields, heroes, and the BRAVE Americans
who didn't get on television and talk about being a human shield - -they were human shields."

Quote from "Stand Up for America Rally Speech"

By: Beth Chapman

you haven't got a clue bud.......

One who's been there, done that.
They told (us) to open up the Embassy, or "we'll blow you away." And then they looked up and saw the Marines on the roof with these really big guns, and they said in Somali, "Igaralli ahow," which means "Excuse me, I didn't mean it, my mistake".

I will telll you that I'm the most ignorant person u'll ever face or meet. I'm also proud to admit that because the only way I can grow or learn is to have the capacity to and the willingness to change.

No such thing as absolute right/wrong... that goes for all of you.

Therefore what I just said, is absolutely pointless.

she did not choose to be there... at least I don't think when the war started she volutneerd to be captured and stranded.

She was just doing her job and got in trouble. Granted I don't think she deserve as much credit she has been given but I have to admit she does not deserve to "rot and die".

I think she almost did!

Fortunately her life was spared and now she can move on. Jessica is a cute kid, it's kinda sad that such a young person like herself and other fellow soldiers have to experience a "HELL" like war and the evil places they occur.

Welcome Home, Jessica!

Wrong. There IS absolute right and wrong. Don't try to toe lines; either you see in black and white or you are blind. Your absolutes may differ from others, but anyone who does not recognize there is right and there is wrong in the world...right and wrong that transcends political, religious or social ideologies...is only fooling themselves into a comfortable gray area that doesn't truly exist.
