Heatsink selection guide misleading..?
Heatsink selection guide misleading..?
I love amd, but this heat thing is really starting to confuse me. I dont know whow to believe and what to believe.
I bought the athlon Xp 2400+ in boxed format the heatsink that came with must be like the tiniest thing you could possibly get!
So i decide to leave the oem heatsink and put on my Coolermaster HHC-001 on instead. The blister pack the heatsink comes in states that it supports up to 2.2 Ghz on the athlon 4.
At the moment i am getting really high temps with this heatsink and everybody is telling me to get something better..
How far can i believe what is said on packaging nowadays??
And what is amd's problem the guarantee statement says that the guarantee will be void by using a different heatsink, but the heatsink that is supplied with the processor couldnt even keep a duron 1000 cool.

did you read my post in the other thread? You've now made two threads on basically the same thing..your processor running hot.. the epox 8k3a is the first board to read from the axp diode, it doesn't read correctly from tbreds..ignore the abnormally high temp if it's stable and if the heatsink isn't scalding to the touch under load.
Thanks AMRO
Thanks for ur help u just saved me from having to buy a new heatsink. Sorry about making two posts i didnt intend for them to sound the same.
