I wouldn't trust anyone who says to set a 0 pagefile in XP
He also lists the L2 cache size tweak which is only useful for chips with an external L2 cache like Intel's 386, 486, Pentium, Pentium Pro, AMD K5/K6/K7, and Cyrix; and I doubt that most people running XP have any chip like that.
Some third-party sources have erroneously reported that modifying the SecondLevelDataCache registry entry in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \System \CurrentControlSet \Control \Session Manager\Memory Management can enhance system performance. The second level (L2) cache is recognized by the operating system and is fully utilized regardless of the setting of this parameter.
As long as you have an internal L2 cache, the setting of 0 in that registry key tells XP to read the HAL for L2 cache size. How did you determine that the L2 size was being reported incorrectly?
