Hi guys need a little hand.
I setup 2 PC, using a router and I can see my shared drive along with the other PC. but I cannot see the directory of one PC.
Network--> MSHOME --> PC1
PC2
but I only see the shared stuff on the pc's what must I do to see all or to grant access..
Using Windows XP PRO on both .. did I just set it up incorrectly.
thank you
Networking question.
Shared pics, shared music ect.. but I cannot access root..
You mean browse the whole system? With File and Print Sharing, you only have access to what is specifically shared. Sharing your whole C Drive is not recommended.
anything is possible - nothing is free

Not a good idea to share the entire C drive of any NT based operating system. Unless you know what you are doing assigning specific permissions to the system and other internal components, you can end up with some trouble on your next reboot. Even then...it's not a good idea.
Suggestion to stick to sharing folders you create, or built in document only folders like My Documents, etc.

I ahve the folder for example:
Shared pics, shared music ect.. but I cannot access root..
but I can do everything else.. print ect..
and no 2 seperate accounts
1 on each machine
both with admin rights
For XP Pro, disable simple file sharing and create the user accounts of each machine on the other, ie PC1 account A password X, PC2 acct B pass Y. add acctB with pass Y to PC1 etc. Share access is granted by account permissions with XP Pro so this must be done. Then access to the shares can be controlled with user permissions.
