Horizontal scroll bar since new site was put up

Post by Norm »

Just wondering if it's my end or does everyone have that now?

I'm using 1024x768 res, but it's there at 800x640 as well. Not sure of my screen size, either 15 or 17"

It's only in the forums, not the main site. If I scroll over to the right it's just empty space color = black.

I actually had a horizontal scroll bar with about 5 pixels of travel BEFORE the new site was put up and it is now gone.

I just never said anything.

LOL :)

The space I can scroll is about 5"

It seems as though a black background pic is set at 140%, but I guess if you aren't seeing it it could be my end, but what could it be?

Does anyone know if possibly it is something not supported in IE 5.01 SP2 that is in the code for the Vb ?

It's most likely related to the top JS menus and IE 5.01 SP2... Anyone else with the same browser version experiencing this ?

Thanks Philip, I'll bet it is IE 5.01 SP2 lack of support.

No big deal here really, was just curious if it was happening to everyone and should be reported.

It doesn't get in my way, so unless it's a problem with the Vb code or the page code, don't worry about it. Just thought I'd let you know in case.

Thanks for the feedback Norm.

I'm curious whether others are experiencing it as well.

I am, 5.0 here(I refuse to upgrade). Just a 3" slider at the bottom. 1280x960 if that helps at all.

Just a thought I had... but is this doing it on EVERY page you go to ?

I was thinking that if it is just random pages, it could be those threads with long photos and it just makes that one post wider than the rest. Than, you have a lot of horizontal room beside MOST of the posts... just not the one where the pic is.

Example:

Here is what I see due to the pic being too wide for the screen ...

It does do it with 5.01 sp2. 5.5 sp2 has no problems on my end.

mountainman, this has been changed I believe in version 3 of vBulletin which is coming out soon (all posts are equal width)... It does depend on your browser/version too...
However, I like the current one better (what you illustrated in the image). Imagine all posts being the same width as the image, you'd have to scroll left and right just to be able to read every line in all consecutive posts... It's kinda annoying.

Thanks for the feedback.

Hi Philip... I totally agree with you and how it is now. I like it when I dont have to scroll to read the rest of the text.

I was just curious if this is the problem that Norm is describing. Perhaps he didn't notice a long photo or something.

This could be it if it isn't happening on ALL pages.

:)

Pics or no pics, the horizontal scroll bar is there in every forum page. It really isn't a problem for me though. I never use the scroll bar while at SG. What for? It's just empty black space anyway lol

Thanks for trying to help. I think it's it's my old version of IE though.

I just upped to 5.5, and the bar vanished. 5.0 had it, 5.5 does not. My guess its a version snafu.
