Good cable modems???

Im getting ready to buy a new cable modem because the one I have now is ancient. Its a Motorola Surfboard 3100. It reboots randomly all the time and is in general a POS. I was looking at the Motorola SB 5100 and the Linksys BEFCMU10 ver.2 EtherFast Cable Modem with USB & Ethernet Connection. Does ...

USR 8022...anyone have one of these?

USR 8022...anyone have one of these? This has to be one of the most confusing wireless, cable/DSL routers Ive ever used. If anyone has one and knows how to set it up for things like opening ports for BF 1942 and maybe getting it a bit more secure please let me know. Ill get more specific if someone ...

Definately stay away from the D-Link DI-604. That thing is notorious for locking up and randomly rebooting. I just bought a US Robotics USR 8022 (I know its Wi-Fi too but the LAN side is sweet) and I love the hell out of it. This thing is rock solid so far with 0 problems and a million features ...

Powering on other pcs on network??

Is there anyway I can use this feature to remotely power on my computer in one of the other rooms from my main pc whenever I want. Buying cable modem rather than renting?

Is there any benifits at all to buying a cable modem rather than renting the one from the cable company? Maybe like reliability or maybe some options or something? I know that it would eventually knock out a bit of the monthly cost but surely there has to be some benifits. My current cable modem is ...
