Chicago Russian Turkish steambath

A bud was talking about saunas the other day and I thought of a place I used to frequent years ago, Division Street Russian & Turkish Baths .

They used to have a pool of ice water w/ floating blocks of ice in it... caution sign warning folks w/ heart conditions to not use... I'd get baked in the ...

Never thought the day would come when I'd say a Dell rig is a step up for me. :wth:

Anyway, I hate the fan. I'm thinking about moving the system to a different case.

I have the solution after over a month of working at it. :)

It's a miracle I got it running period. :rotfl: I'd broken it ...

Use a USB CD-ROM drive.. I've run into this a few times in the past with drives in older laptops not working

I tried that too, it would not boot from several discs confirmed to be bootable. Seemed to read the disks, but would not boot. The bios doesn't support boot from usb or other device.

XP doesn't see ThinkPad hdd- disable AHCI

ThinkPad T60P (type 8744), 100Gb SATA hdd.

Partitioning tools (partition magic, paragon, acronis) see the hdd and can work w/ it, but then trying a clean install of XP, kept getting an error that no hdd is connected and setup aborts.

Presario 5000 162-System Options Not Set

I had it booting from CD n/p. I moved it to a newer case, worked fine.

Then I attached an hdd. :)

Then I got the 162-System Options Not Set at boot up. :wth:

Removing the hdd has not resolved the problem.

Dell Inspiron 3800 lappy. A bud gave it to me after weeks of screwing around w/ it.

It has win2k installed, unfortunately the logon password is unknown. Failure to boot from cd and floppy makes it impossible to either breakin or wipe it out and do a clean install.

I also can't boot into the ...
