Yesterday I purchased a Siemens PCI 10/100 ethernet card. Spent 2 hours troubleshooting that darn card. It would not talk to my DSL modem. What is real bad is my DSL modem is made by the same company. You never know.... Back to Compusa to get a 3com.

I wish someone would tell that to the phone company. That is their number one excuse as to why I get low bandwidth sometimes. (thermal conditions, change in temp., etc etc.)

I think they all are pretty much the same. Everybody out there has their own opinions. You may be able to tweak a little more performance from one of the high end cards, etc. 3com 905c, but you will be paying the high cost. Try to stay with the popular name brands, netgear, linksys, d-link ...

No, this ,model 10-X204, is proprietary equipment made special for Directv DSL. I heard ,rumors, they can be tweaked to work on standard DSL services.

Anybody out there heard of this?

Old Directv Gateway

Since my Directv DSL service is gone. Does anyone know what we can use the free Gateways for? Directv said we could use or throw away. Anyway know how to reprogram these to be useful with standard DSL service? Or does paper weight come to minds...

Hello fellow SBC/Yahoo member. I am currently going through the same thing you are. I purchased the extra bandwidth 768 to 1.5 downloads and 256 uploads. My bandwidth down, is anywhere from 264k to 486k but my uploads are always 245k. Sometimes I get 1.2m but the majority of the time its very low ...

Good Luck with your provider. SBC charges us $150.00 for inside wiring.

Common packages are (1) 768k downloads and 128k uploads
upgrades are (1) 1.5 m downloads and 256k uploades.

SBC- charges 29.95-39.95 for the first and 49.95-59.95 for the second.
