I actually got it to work.

I looked at the case a little closer and saw that it had the name H45 Technology Corporation on it so I did the old GOOGLE thing and low and behold they had a website. Found an XP driver. DLd it and the drive came to life ...

A while back I purchased a unit (in the forum here ... can't remember who I got it from) that would let me mount a HDD into it and connect it to my computer thru a USB port for the purpose of accessing files on it.

I am trying to use it now and cannot get Windows XP Home to recognize it. The unit ...

I tried doing some "back-ups" using DVD X COPY and had no luck. Decided to try the ones above and I gotta tell you ... VERY easy to use.

I used DVD SHRINK and then DVD DECRYPTER ...

I have had some close friends say they would pay me $5.00 per DVD if I would make them for them. I have DVD X COPY that is the original ... WITH the ripper software in it. I may try a couple and see how they turn out.

I have been wanting one for a while ... and I finally made the plunge. I read and read and read and think that I came up with a good candidate.

It is an LG GSA-4163B 16x All-Format DVD Writer ... 8.5 GB DVD+R Double Layer

Here are some of the specs on it:

I figured it out.

You go to RUN ... msconfig ... then to your boot.ini ... there you can set the time.

Nevermind ... DOH!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just went to the boot.ini section and was able to type in 10 instead of the 30 that was in there.

I am running XP Professional ... by the way. (forgot to mention that)

I used to know how to do this ... but have forgotten.

What I am trying to do is change the length of time for you to make a decision which system you want to boot into. It is currently at 28 seconds and I would like to get it down to no more then 10.

I have it ALMOST fixed at this time. I am having one other small problem.

Upon launching ... when the desktop is ALMOST up ... the C:\WINDOWS\system32 [/size] window pops up. Is there a way to not have this happen? Does anyone know why this is doing this?

I am in the process of getting my gf's daughter's computer back up and running. She had all kinds of spyware & virii on it and I had to do a repair using the XP disk.

I have it back up and running and ran Adaware 6 and Giant AntiSpyware on it and got all kinds of garbage off it.
