:cool: Definitely go with the RJ45, USB has a bad tendency to lose the connection. It's not very reliable at all...

:( If you're getting a "media disconnected" error, you need to replace the nic. the only thing device manager tells you is that the drivers are correctly installed.

:cool: Roadrunner has several modems they use. The most common ones right now are the Ericsson PipeRider and Toshiba PCX2500, both of which are pretty good modems. :cool:

:cool: Depending on your service provider, some do include a NIC in the installation. I know if you pay the install fee for RoadRunner, you can specify if you want a NIC installed. Unfortunately, most people don't know that and just go with USB because it's easier to hook up. :cool:

:D :D I'm surprised the tech support from your provider didn't tell you that already...I work for RoadRunner, and that's the first thing I always suggest to people having connection problems with USB. :D :D

:o Actually, the ISP can tell by the MAC address that you are running a router, but most of them don't care as long as you aren't eating huge amounts of bandwidth... :o

:D I would say it's the USB connection. It has a tendency to drop connections on an intermittent basis. When you get the chance, get yourself a NIC and connect that way. I bet it fixes your problem... :D

I have to continuously disconnect the power supply from the modem to reboot it. I’m running Windows XP pro and have a Linksys Etherfast Cable /DSL router. BEFSR41.
I know it’s a router issue, because as soon as I disconnect the router and plug directly to the modem the problem disappears. I have ...
