IMHO the Raspberry Pi has gone a long way towards getting kids back into computers and programming. And the new Pi 4B is actually usable as a desktop PC.
It's also getting some us that are not so young into programming and tinkering. ;)

A lot of the code and Python libraries I use with hardware I attach to my Raspberry Pi is stored there. I had no idea what it was of for until I started using SBC's etc with Linux. I don't think I've ever gone there for anything Windows related though? Windows 10 IoT just doesn't do it for me. I don ...

I'm not to worried about the DATA I would be sending in my example above. It's more the PITA it is to set it all up and get it working. Microsoft has Windows 10 IoT but you need some coding skills to be able to do anything with it. It bears little resemblance to Windows. No GUI, no file explorer, no ...

I was at one time wanting to send some temp humidity etc reading from my Raspberry Pi's Sense Hat to my PC's. For the most part they want you to send your DATA to the cloud, through their web site, to create a Dash Board to view the DATA over the Internet on your PC. No easy way to just send it over ...

I have a couple of Raspberry Pi Single Board Computers on the go but none are setup as an IoT devices. Not yet anyway. At some point I may go down that road. Windows 10 IoT just doesn't cut it for me. I don't have the skills to use it. I've never done anything in Visual Studio. Steep learning curve ...

I don't think there is any difference between the free upgrade and a bought and paid for install. I did the free upgrade to get digital entitlements on all my Pc's. Now I just do clean installs when needed. I've used my MSDN ISO's and ISO's from the Media a Creation tool and see no difference. There ...

If you have a currently not in use Windows 7 or 8 product key you can clean install with that. You don't even have to upgrade first. The latest consumer build will install and activate with Window 7 and 8/8.1 keys. You can get the install media here, https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/software-download ...

I did it early on and haven't looked back. Once you upgrade and get your digital entitlement, you can clean install after that. If you have issues from the upgrade, just try a clean install. You also have a rollback feature that can be used up to 30 days after you do the upgrade. You can also just ...

I went here, http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 and just did the "Upgrade this PC Now" option. I did all 4 PC's here at home that way. I gave up on the get Windows 10 Application. It seemed to just stall at Verifying your PC. I won't be going back to Windows 8.1 any time soon ...

Nope SLIC is gone as far as I know. The key is also stored in a section of the BIOS not overwritten by a BIOS update. Another nice feature is you don't need custom OEM install media to use the embedded key. Any official Microsoft install ...

from what I know about slic, It's not even a key that is embedded. it is a Cert specific to that OEM. hence when you do a bios update, you are overwriting the bios and the cert, but the same cert is embedded in that new bios also. so upon OS activation. that small OEM folder you usually see in the ...

FYI
It may not have been stated yet, but Windows 7 does not embed the product key in the bios, only Windows 8 does that and afaik, it only does it if the bios is set to secure boot AND if windows 8 came pre-installed on the comp. My windows 8 was installed without secure boot enabled, thus no bios ...

Home and Pro are two separate downloads. You had no choice but to install Home if that's what you downloaded. You could have downloaded Pro and clean installed it on the PC that came with 8.1 Pro. I'm sticking to my "You must upgrade to be sure of being able to clean install and activate at a latter date." I don't think the ISO is coded depending on what PC you download it on, and marked as OK for a free upgrade. One reason is you can use that same ISO to do clean installs on multiple PC's ...

It's not FUD, typical response from you. What version of Windows 8 was preinstalled? What Version of 10 did you install? What you upgrade from determines what version you get. You can't just install any version you want for free. Did you ever have Windows 10 installed on that PC in the past, Insider ...

You have to upgrade and activate before you can clean install. If your doing the free upgrade. Your qualifying OS has to be installed to be verified. The Windows 8 embedded key is not used. When you upgrade and activate Windows 10 a hardware hash is stored on the activation server. After that you ...

There will be Home and Pro, so yes, if you get Home it will have some features missing compared to Pro. If your running Pro now though you'll get 10 Pro. Agreed, it will never be that same, especially if the other two decide to leave. It looks like he's a bit of a bigot, on top of his short temper issues. I've seen hints of that on the show. It's too bad really he can't just keep that kind of thing off screen and off set. I'm not condoning it, but if ...
