http://americasarmy.com/ops/files/files.php says you can download the operations portion on the 4th of July, and https://get.thearmygame.com/ says you can get the other half on the 4th as well. They had originally said early August about a month ago, but the 4th seems more appropriate.

I assume ...

OEM computer brands, especially compaq, sometimes won't accept a component unless it comes from compaq or dell or whoever. Compaq is bad about that with memory and sometimes videocards. Btw, if you tried to upgrade to a gf4 mx, they are a pain somtimes. Also, see the card you want is compatible in ...

Also with newer cards like the gf3 or 8500, the gpu actually does almost all the processing, taking it off the cpu. This frees the cpu up some, allowing a slighty better ping at times.

Thanks for all the help....now I'm even more confused :D . I did lots of reading at [H]ard|OCP, and it too shows that in their Aniso tests, the 8500 beat even the 4600 in one test. Purely amazing. I was looking at O/C options there too, and its possible to oc a 4200 to be as fast as a 4600 or faster ...

So far I've heard mostly from ATi biased people. Some of you guys really aren't biased and thanks for that.

but technically speaking the gf3/4's aniso has a better IQ

I read this post and decided to do some research. First I looked up price using pricewatch.com. Not much difference at all. in fact there was an instance of a gf4ti4200 and an 8500 (both vivo) listed for the same exact price. So no one really won on price.

Then you have to take into consideration ...

thanks for the warm welcome to the forums....I have heard constantly that ati needs better drivers, and its my experience that ati's performace benchmarks are slightly less than nvidia's. Last I heard the gf3 ti 500 with the detonator drivers benched better than an 8500. If you can prove soemthing ...

I bought a comcrap a while back that had ME on it. Its the trashiest windows O/S yet. I dumped it for xp as soon as xp came out. Did you know that at one point microsoft almost abandoned win ME all together? There's gotta be something wrong with it if MS won't even accept it! Whatever you decide ...

If you have typed in your cd letter from your browser recently it could be listed in the history, causing IE to acces the cdrom to update the cd title in the list.

onboard video usually robs from system memory. If you get a little low on system memory that could very well effect your pings. I would think onboard video would make you a little more laggy than AGP or PCI video beacuse onboard video has more COU overhead, making your pings slightly higher and ...

xp pro probs when you turn off pagefile

I recently added 256 megs of ram for a total of 576 megs. I turned off the page file, like every good computer geek with over 512 megs ram. I reboot, and hit control+alt+del to see task manager.

Heres the problem, it still shows me using a page file! It fluxuates and all. So i double checked my ...

maybe when things get in full swing it will get better. I have done some reading in the past, and if Cox is going to manage all their own stuff now, seems to me like the performance would have to get better.

Does anyone know where I can go to see when we will switch in my area?

take out some ram until you get it down to 512 or less. Windows 98 cannot handle more than that, so that could be doing it. Most people even have better performance with 256 instead of 512. Try it and tell me if it helps.

Better connection after using XP tweaks, kinda...

I did all the twaeks for xp, i didn' have time to do them manually so I used the file. I still got a big improvement. From 4 megabits to 7. But the problem I have is that now my connection is intermitent. When its going its 7 megabit, but it constantly stops for 5-15 seconds for no apparent reason ...
