Please Help With FTTH Tweakings
All,
I live in Japan and recently upgraded to NTT Flet's fiber optic service. It's a 1GB connection, but if I'm reading the literature correctly the plan I'm subscribed to (New Family Type) limits me to 10Mbps (they have residential plans where the full 100 Mbps is used, like for apartments, etc ...

WINXP SP2 - Cablenut Settings
All,
I'm going to install WINXP SP2 2149 on a new computer (AMD64
) this weekend. Just curious as to if the Cablenut settings I used previously are still needed, or does SP2 fix those things we've had to do ourselves in the past?
Thanks/torataka

Thanks j79zlr, those settings gave me about 10 kb/sec better end-of-download speed on my realworld ATI test at about 260 kb/sec; however, the two speakeasy tests I took gave me a 90 and 80 kb/sec result, which seems a bit flakey. But, the best I've gotten thus far by a slim margin, looking forward ...

New DSL Service - Forum Advice Needed
All,
I live in Japan and recently subscribed to a 24MB ADSL service through NTT Flet. Unfortunately, I'm 3.5km from the telco switching point and have old wiring, so I'll never come close to my max speeds; however, respectfully solicit the forum's advice in optimizing it as much as possible.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I have to think so, though I'm not 100 percent certain. I'm using WINXP SP1 which recognizes the card, and going to Windows update does not yield a different choice. I also searched the Internet, and couldn't find anything better for WINXP.
Thanks again for the help.
Randy

Thanks for the reply, Andrzej. I tried the settings in the post you suggested, and the only thing I have different is a DefaultReceiveWindow of 1024000, DefaultSendWindow of 256000, and you can see my current RWIN below. I've tried literally dozens of settings other than this today, and no joy. I ...

Please Help - Frustrating 8MB DSL Speeds
Simply put, they suck. I previously had a 1.5MB service, and despite trying to follow mnosteele's tips for setting RWIN and TcpWindowSize settings am unable to get better than a 120KB/sec download speed, and even that's gone when I go back an hour or so later. Some tips I have implemented are ...

Yes, I did the merge trick and 1480 is in there. No matter what I seem to do I can't raise my MTU from 1454. In doing some research on my NTT Flet ADSL connection, it seems as if that's the default MTU used by NTT and I can't find any way to uncap it. Does anyone else visiting this board from Japan ...

Thanks once again, mnosteele52. Below are my TCPAnalyzer results using 51840 along with the other tweaks you suggested, which seem to give me my best results. With this, I'm getting anywhere from 85-119k/bps on my 1.5MB DSL connection using SpeakEasy. Any other tweaks we can look at?

All,
Thanks to mnosteele and some experimenting on my own, I am getting close to half-way decent speeds for my 1.5MB ADSL connection. I have to admit that I'm a challenge to optimize as I live in Japan and use NTT's Flet ADSL service, which seems to be limited to a 1454 MTU and 1414 MSS from all my ...

ADSL Less Than Optimized - Please Suggest
All,
I'm using a 1.5MB ADSL line and I'm lucky to get a sustained rate of 70KB/S using the the on-line FTP speed test here: http://forums.speedguide.net/showthread.php?threadid=86991.
As background, I'm on a WINXP Home computer, using the built-in PPPoE, 256MB RAM, AMD 1800 XP processor. Nothing ...

All,
Thanks for the suggestions thus far--I seem to be on the road to a faster connection with just a few anomalies that still concern me. I first ran DrTCP entering the suggestions provided by HenryHand1. (BTW, I couldn't get v020 to work, so downloaded v019 which worked just fine). I then ran two ...

Terrible DSL Connection-Suggestions?
All,
I've been using a DSL service for about 3 months now, and despite all the patches I've tried nothing seems to really speed up my connection. I'm in a bit of a unique situation as I'm stationed in Japan and using NTT's Flet's ADSL service, which I doubt many of you are familiar with. It's ...
