Ping high at first hop

Ok so I've had many internet issues and they claimed 4 storms (we've had no storms in 3-4 months) messed with service and that it's fixed. Then something else pops up, well I took it upon myself to swap modems at the cable place and the latency was ok at first but when running a trace, the first hop ...

Just get some from Monoprice.
It's not the cable that costs 600 bucks..it's the time and supporting materials. Running cable can often be time consuming and "not fun". Also have to consider wall plates to mount it properly in rooms, terminating ends, etc.

Thanks, yea all the boxes, plates, etc ...

Best coaxial cable to buy?

Ok so my cable company wants me to pay near $600 to run cable to 2 rooms that already have cable wiring but it's really old wiring and I've been having tons of tv and networking issues that I feel are related to bad wiring.

I'm looking to buy some coaxial cable, just not sure what's the best, and ...

Oh and yea they've been through 3 modem swaps, all seem to work the same as the precious with 0 improvements. One thing when I bridge the modem disabling the internal router and using my external router the latency for the modem is a tad lower, but still out of what it should be.

Escalate the issue to upper tier support, demand Tier 2! Provide them with the problematic traces, tell them it is an intermittent issue, tell them 2 out of 3 techs said it was an area problem, make sure they know you feel you are being brushed off and will excalate this further until it is ...

Cable high latency + dropping out a lot.

Okay so I have Time Warner Cable. Ever since January my signals have been dropping out, and or just jumping up at the modem when testing traces the latency will be normally 30ms then jump to 500,1000,2000ms+ latency.

I've called and spent more time on the phone with "tech support" I've had a total ...

Mine are set for receive - 100 and transmit - 50.

These buffer settings are applicable between the NiC and the comp, and will not influence buffer for the internet connection. TCP window or Rwin is the set buffer for the internet, and in Vista and Win 7, is autotuned by the OS.

Gives me the ...

The problem is not in the line as one comp can get much more than subscribed speed.

Probably difference is how the browser is reacting to speed boosting feature of the ISP.

But I'm also having gaming issues as well, latency as high as 100-300ms higher than my wife's pc with the same hardware ...

Not getting right speed on one pc

Ok so I got Time Warner cable had them for some time. I upgraded to the wideband service 32mb down, 5mb up. I received a Ubee DDW3611 Modem/Router combo.

I was reading about maxCPE 1 and heard it should be more, but can't change it.

Anyway, my wife's pc was connected to setup the service when ...

I won't be able to tell if a battery backup is keeping the signal or not till later on after more use. = (
