If you set up the workstation on the server FIRST, then the workstation should be able to join the domain using a valid user's account (one that is set up on the server). You only need to be an admin if you are attempting to join a server's domain while logged on at a workstation that has NOT been ...

Have you tried logging in using another (existing) account for that domain? eg just an ordinary user's account as opposed to a domain admin's account? If this works you have a problem with your admin account. Also, just a thought, you haven't by any chance deleted the 'everyone' account on you ...

Delete the computer account you set up for 2kpro box on the server, as well as its previous account it had when living as a 98 box (if you have not already done so). Next, in networking properties of the 2kpro box, change the identity settings to something that has not previously been used in your ...

My SMC Baricade is AWSOME! By far the best piece of networking hardware (for the money) I have ever bought. The quick setup guide is kind of weak but complete instructions are in the readme file in MS Word & Adobe PDF formats, should you need them. ;)

Down ranges from 56Kbps from really slow servers to occasionally 3Mbps (300KBps)from really fast servers (such as microsoft's). Average down is about .95-1.0 Mbps on most servers. Up is usually around 256Kbps.

I realize you can't because nobody makes a router with USB on the WAN side *yet*. They will before long I bet. There are USB to 10-base 2 media converters on the market for use in connecting, say a laptop, to an ethernet network and I have thought about using one of them to connect the Bellsouth USB ...

Broadband router with USB on WAN side?

I have not been able to locate a broadband router/firewall with USB on the WAN side. Any ideas? Bellsouth's external DSL modem is USB only. They want $150 extra to let me use a ethernet modem and want to install some 'mystery' software on my computer if I want ethernet. They say they have no problem ...

SMC Barricade w/4port 10/100 switch and print server. Very easy to set up & administer. It is NAT only though...no statefull packet inspection, etc.

There is a $20 rebate good thru March 31. www.Computers4sure.com has it for $99 right now. I can't think of a better investment I've made for a net ...

ZA Pro Poblems

I have installed ZA Pro on three OS's and had problems that ended up w\a reinstall of the OS each time. The program would work for a while (few days\hours) and then I would start having mysterious crashes until the system(s) would no longer boot. The OS's were W98se, W2K Pro, and W2K Server ...
