First home system was an IBM clone 286. I used to love playing Star Flight 2. First one I ever built for myself was in 1996. Put together a Pentium 133MHz for college.

Mark, if you had $500 for just a processor & Mobo, what would you purchase with it?

I would like to move to an AMD system by Christmas time....new job starts in a couple weeks and I'll be able to afford the setup.

Can someone recommend some ASUS motherboards with chips? I want to do a P4, but I keep seeing Pentium 4 - Skt 478 & Pentium 4 - Skt T , specially on zipzoomfly.com where I want to buy my board,chip & memory. Whats the difference? I know SKT 478 is socket based chip, but whats Skt T?
