With my home system (AMD 1Gigahertz, IE5.5 and Mediaone cable access) as soon as I try to use Internet Explorer to access www.speedguide.net my system locks and I have to use CTRL-ALT-DEL to kill Internet Explorer. The only other site I've tried that causes the same problem is [url=http://www.ashford.com,]www.ashford.com,[/url] I can view any other website without difficulties.

I've tried using another browser (MSN Explorer) and also tried accessing Speedguide.net using my dialup modem, but with the same results.

I've tried clearing my IE temporary file cache. Pinging and tracing the route doesn't offer any clues. Why should IE 5.5 lockup immediately upon trying to access this site?

No, trying the link from your site caused IE to lockup on my system as before. But using www.anonymizor.com lets me access speedguide.net without any lockup. And I went straight to speedguide.net using my daughter's computer which shares my cable connection thru a Linksys router/hub.

Blow me away.

You most likely have corrupted cookies and/or temp internet files & possibly history folder items. Delete all cookies and TIF's in full DOS mode. Do a search here at speedguide for "index.dat" and follow the instructions I posted in those threads for deleting those folders in DOS mode.

I followed the threads but I should have mentioned I run Windows ME...it doesn't have an option to boot to DOS. I tried booting into safe mode but still couldn't delete the index.dat file. I might still have a Win98 emergency boot disk...perhaps that would get me to DOS even though my system has ME installed?

I made a backup copy of index.dat and used a hex editor to look at the copy. I found references to ashford.com (the other site that causes IE to lockup) but no reference to speedguide.net.

Well, just try deleting all cookies and temp internet files manually in windows and keep the index.dat files.

Is there a repair IE function in ME?

Tried it, didn't help. I've also tried the IE repair function in TweakUi and deleting index.dat using "Window Washer". Thanks for the ideas though.
