When my wife tells me to (about the third time). Usually just a few days before Christmas and take it down right after New Year's.

I think most of the American population would agree with you, heh, early November is just a *bit* early. Does November have ANYTHING to do with Christmas?? IMO it draws the specialness of the situation out far too thin.
What is boxing day??

Normally I put mine up on Thanksgiving or shortly after and then take it down after New Years Eve.

Up 2nd week of Dec and down New Years Day as long as we didn't have too rough of a night the night before, otherwise it's the Jan 2.
Boxing Day is also the day everything goes on sale, a lot cheaper to shop then, then it is to shop before Christmas.

Christmas-BAH HUMBUG! I'll put on my little Grinch socks and sit and wait for someone to throw their tree out, then I'll get my tree. hehehe.
Seriously though, usually and particularly the way this year has gone, I think about the beginning of December I'll pick one up and we always take it down after New Years eve.
Last year, we didn't decorate or get a tree or anything, but this year, my feelings have changed a bit. You tend to look at life a wee bit differently when you come so close to losing it!

No tree for me! I detest the holidays('cept for the time off), much too commercial and whacked out. Seeing old friends and such is a blast, but do I ever hate all the ancillary crapulence tied to it these days.

Mine goes up on Black Friday and comes down whenever we get the chance...sometime in mid January.
The Holidays are very important to our family and friends....it is a good time of year. I wish the spirit of the holidays lasted all year long.

I haven't put up a xmas tree in years. As a matter of fact, I don't put up any holiday decorations. I enjoy looking at other peoples decorations. I've been living here about 5 1/2 years and I think I remember once putting up a small star that goes atop the tree on my window. That's all my xmas decorations.

My wife was wanting to put it up last weekend but other house projects came up (fortunately

)...we normally put it up right after Thanksgiving, and take it down around the 1st weekend after New Years...
At least we aren't pyschotic like my mother-in-law...she usually has her trees (that's right, I said
trees) up by mid November and takes them down around the middle of January...I think she's planning on putting up three trees this year...normally she only puts up two (lol,
only)...

Seems like you may as well not celebrate Thangsgiving if you are going to be sitting there looking at a Christmas tree. I personally don't think there should be anything Christmas related untill after Thanksgiving, and that includes those damn stores at the mall. The earlier Christmas gets the less I like it. Just my opinion, no offense to any one or their wives.

I did not put up a tree last year. In the past, I would put one up last minute. I have kept a tradition since my son was a toddler. We go up the hill to the nursery that sells them and have them tie one up and he laughs all the way downhill as mom drags it along.
It is actually a funny site watching me cross the street since I am only 5 feet tall and I usually buy an 8 footer.
I may do that again this year
