YeOldeStonecat and TheWiz, I decided to start a new thread since there might be other people with opinions about this matter.
First of all, I have an ISB SOHO router. I have a couple questions that are confusing me. On the Main setup page for the router, at the bottom where it says Network Adapter MAC address, is this the MAC Address of the Nic it sees on the first computer (computer with lan ip 192.168.0.2) or is this the mac address of the router?
Another question, since SOHO's can clone Mac addresses, how would I do that?
If I was going to clone a NIC's mac address... it has to be the mac address of the main computers NIC (therefore the mac address of the computer that has the lan Ip 192.168.0.2). Right?
Finally... my main computer is connected to the first port on the Router but is given a lan ip of 192.168.0.3? My other computer which is connected to port 2 on the router is given a lan ip of 192.168.0.2. Shouldn't this be the other way around? Can I change the lan ip's for each computer?
Just in case anyone needs it... I receive my ip through a DHCP server.
Thanks everyone... I really want things cleared up.
Very confused with authentication and Mac address

You would manually enter the MAC address of the machine that was previously connected directly to the modem. This is done on the main setup page - field is at the bottom. The reason for this is your isp logged the mac address during the installation (see page 6 isb soho users guide).
If you want your boxes to have specific private IP addresses, turn off DHCP and manually assign ip addresses to the client using 192.168.0.2 (and ..3) as you desire. The ip address is associated with the MAC address of the machines. The router's dhcp server tries to give the same address to each machine (actually a very useful feature in most cases) by linking the MAC address. The physical port that the boxes are connected to doesn't matter at all. That is also why it displays the MAC address for the 'known' machines on your LAN.

Thanks cyberskye for the help.
Also, is it possible to have the main computer you currently used to register the mac address of the NIC to have a lan ip either then 192.168.0.2?
I ask this because my main computer has a lan ip of 192.168.0.3 and I thought MAIN computers have to have the first lan ip available on the router which would be 192.168.0.2.

Not at all. Routers tend to default to low values, but no address has more status or priority. It's just an address not an order.
You should organize the addresses in the way that's easiest for you to manage. If you want total control, use manual addressing - just make sure you know your dns addresses, the ip address of the router. Otherwise, the DHCP server will use whatever method it uses to assign addresses.
