I love Winamp. It uses a lot of bandwidth, however. Just for giggles, ran speed tests, one with Winamp running streaming audio, the other without. Came back 1.5 mbps and 700 kbps respectively, so I can see where your connection may slow down depending what else you're running simultaneously.

Um...unless you're streaming audio, or using any of its web features, Winamp should be using virtually NO bandwidth, little memory, and relatively few cpu cycles.

that's the thing, even though i'm not streaming audio with winamp; just playing mp3s in my folders...it still effects my connection.
do you think it has something to do with the cable company or the wiring and what not?
it's just the winamp...any other program i run such as photoshop or kazaa doesn't effect my connection...

If its actually slowing down your CONNECTION, and not just your computer (which might make your browser appear to hang a little), then the only thing I can think of is some of the web features are being used.
Otherwise, Winamp doesn't really do much beyond "call home" every now and then. Even on a 14.4, that shouldn't slow anything down.
